Let's get some discussion going on the biggest game of the year. I will update this post tomorrow to give my preview and predictions.
In the meantime, please enjoy these pictures...

I really hope we see a lot more pictures of the Colts celebrating... I was at the game last year, kinda upset I didn't get to see the proverbial Brady vs. Manning but it was still a good game with Cassel at the helm. I predict a very close game - the D that steps up and makes a couple of big plays will come out on top. The turnover story will tell the tale. Go Colts and good luck to you guys! |

I'm all over the place on this one. Could go any number of ways. Probably going to be a tough, grind em out game with lots of pulling hair. These two teams just know each other too well.
But I beg to differ on whether this is the most important game of the year. It's not. The most important game is the next Miami game. Win that game, win the division.
This one is just sexier. _________________

This team's goal is to win the Super Bowl, not to win the division. This game could very well determine if we get a first round bye. If we are going to win the Super Bowl, we are going to need that first round bye. |

Want this one badly. Not sure though. Toss of a coin. Depends on whether or not we can rush Manning and how Brady plays. _________________

| It's obvious that both teams have great passing attacks, but I think (and hope) the difference is that the Colts will have 2 rookies at CB. We already saw what Moss can do against rookie CBs... |

Realistically (in my mind) 38-34 Colts but I still hold faith that things can swing our way. It will be a close game regardless. _________________

If we want to actually make the playoffs, we need to beat Miami again. Because if we lose, they get the tie breaker again, and they are playing all the cupcakes we have already played.
This is not the be all, end all. First round byes are nice, but we just need to get there. Losing this game will not prevent us from getting there. I am more worried about winning the division and letting everything else work itself out. _________________

Yeah but Miami is 3-5, they'd need to go on a roll and we'd need to suck it up just to give them a chance at this point. We can split with them and as long as we only loose 1-2 more games and we should be okay. _________________

Have you seen their schedule? They will go on a role. They play all the bad teams we've already played and all the bad teams we are going to play.
The point isn't whether or not the can come back, it is whether or not this is the most important game of the season. It's not. That Miami game is. If we lose that, at best, we finish 4-2 in the division and they likely finish 5-1.
Do I think this will ultimately matter? Probably not. But we can get away with losing to Indy. Losing to Miami could be disastrous.
The argument can even be made that yesterdays game was the most important of the year.
Edit:
At worst, the Dolphins should go 6-2 the rest of the way. If they beat the Pats too that puts them at 10-6.
All four of the Pats next four are very losable. They win one of the next four, they should be fine. But they beat Miami, they essentially clinch the division. _________________

27-16 Patriots
I posted a blog about this game on the WBRU site and someone asked why I had the Colts scoring so little at home.
Well, in three of their four home games, the Colts have scored 20 pts or less. And those were to the Texans, Niners, Seahawks and Jaguars.
I think this is a two possession game to be honest. I don't think it's as close as some think it is, but then again the NFL is quite unexpected. _________________

I'm with you on thinking the Patriots win this by more than a score. Something seems off with the Colts this year, not just their easy schedule. I know they are 8-0, but they don't strike as much fear in to me as an 8-0 team should.
Plus with all their injuries (Sanders, Hayden, Jackson, Hagler, Gonzalez) they are severely depleted especially on defence.
I think the key to this game is how our defence plays. We need McGowan to shut down Clark, with Bodden + Merriweather doubling Wayne. If we can consistantly shut them down and force Manning to throw the ball to his less experienced wide outs we should be able to force a couple of turnovers and limit the aerial attack. Lets face it, the Colts running game is pretty bad, our defensive front should be able to handle it easily and if we can generate just a bit of pressure as well we should be in good shape.
Not to mention when we are on offense we don't have to worry about 3 of their 4 starting secondary members. With rookie corners and no real playmakers left in their secondary we should be able to move the ball effectively, especially on the short routes/screens to Welker. The only thing that scares me is that dynamic duo of Mathis and Freeney, but with their secondary depleted as it is we can probably get away with using 2 blockers in the passing game and let Moss/Welker + Watson/Aiken get open.
The only thing i'm not sure about is the Colts run defence, i haven't honestly watched alot of them this year and i don't have time atm to go find where they rank, but if Maroney and Faulk can move the ball effectively that would be another huge bonus.
TL;DR = Keep Brady protected by using extra blockers, exploit the inexperienced and injured Colts secondary and make Wayne and Clark as little of a factor as possible.
All things i think are capable of doing and will do.
Prediction :
PATRIOTS 28-17 Colts |

I don't think we'll beat them by two scores but I think we'll prevail in a close game. I expect our offense to be firing on all cylinders, but I think Manning will give us fits unless we can establish a pass rush early in this game. _________________
