Great news. A 50% Hardwick is better than 100% of anybody else available. This would really help against a nasty Giants D-Line.

The development is promising news for LaDainian Tomlinson, who is coming off his best fantasy game of the season. Without Hardwick, San Diego was struggling badly to open holes up the middle. The Chargers can now focus on fixing the oft-overpowered right side of their offensive line. |

It would be nice to have his leadership and command of the OL back in the lineup. _________________

Having his leadership, and knowledge, back is what's so important. Not having a huge hole in the middle of the line when there's a blitz will make a huge difference. _________________

Accidental plagiarism, I swear.
His ability to make adjustments on the line is going to be so important. It should help Vasquez's progress too. _________________

You know what, we actually might take a step back with him in there. Albeit KC and Oak, I liked the pass protection up the middle we got from Mruczkowski. _________________

I have to agree. I was impressed last year when Hardwick was able to come back from injury so quickly, but he was a downgrade from Newberry for at least a few weeks. I don't want to knock the guy's toughness, but if he's not close to 100%, how good can we really expect him to be? I'd expect that we won't see the major lapses that MCow has been prone to, but is that worth a potential downgrade on the other 90-something percent of the time... |

| I think the addition of Nick back in the lineup will be huge. He is that quarterback of the line and knows what calls to make when. I can see him being a little rusty physically in the run game but he will earn his paycheck on pass protection and calling out the right blocking schemes. |

I hope we don't rush him back, but I would like Hardwick to shake off the rust before our huge divisional game in 17 days. _________________

So much for that idea. It's goo to not rush him back, but it would have really helped having him in against a very good Giants' line.

Hardwick is still well ahead of schedule after injuring his ankle in the season opener. He resumed practicing with the first-team offense earlier in the week and there was a chance he would play on Sunday, but coach Norv Turner isn't going to push him. Hardwick will certainly be a big upgrade to the Chargers' running game. |
