I have a question for Colts fans.
How annoying is Bob Sanders? On the field even I love the guy, but hes never on the field! At what point is he not worth the roster spot anymore?? _________________

When the man retires and is no longer playing football. You need to realize that players do have a lot of incentive-based clauses in their contracts. So if he doesnt play, we dont pay. If he does then we have a guy on the field who won the 2007 DPOY award. Either way we have a solid FS in Bethea and a solid backup in Bullit. _________________

I just got a text from Adam Schefter, Sanders has a torn bicep, out for year
change your answer?
BTW, I wasnt talking money I was talking spot on the team, at what point does him missing 5-8 weeks a year is just too much when you can have a guy that can stay healthy in that roster spot _________________

I see what you are saying about a roster spot. But is it time to look at drafting one in the early rounds after we get our OL, LB and CB taken care of? I mean it is something to think about. Plus with the way the new staff is about the D we may be drafting another person on that side of the ball higher than what we think. _________________

Am i the only one that notices that, even without Sanders, our safeties are still a strong point of our defense. Bethea has been playing as well as Bob usually does this year, and Bullitt is definitley starter quality and could be a future pro bowler if he keeps developing. Bob is simply a luxury to be honest. Because when he's healthy, he is one of the best. he just has had horrible luck with injuries. He probably won't play very much longer in all honesty.
But who knows, he could take this year off, and all of next off season, and come back stronger than ever next year. i think the colts really value his leadership. I hope that he is able to come back fully healthy next year.
But as I said., the colts have a lot of talent at both S and CB still. Powers and Lacey have been just great this year, especially Powers. And Jennings has shown that he can be effective as a nickel corner. But 1 more injury to the secondary and we are pretty much screwed I'd say. _________________

I would be so pissed if I was a Colts fan. This guy is always hurt. I am not sure of his contract status but he is essentially stealing money at this point. _________________

Last time I checked him being on IR frees up a roster spot right? Soooo I don't see the problem with him being on the team. I get your point, but like I said the man is an impact player when on the field. I looked into it and according to coltscap Sanders is actually making LESS next year than he's making this year. He's worth a spot regardless of his injuries. In my opinion you can't put a price on an impact player. Plus Bullit is an excellent backup. _________________

Everybody does realize that Bethea and Bullitt are free agents as well as Marlin. I'm pretty sure Marlin has played his last game as Colt. The corners will be fine....Hayden,Jennings,Powers,Lacey, but do you guys think we are going to sign Bethea and Bullitt back.. maybe one I hope two but who knows. Bob has around $10mil guaranteed left on contract. Next year wont be an issue because there won't be a cap, but moving forward I think his base pay(not including guaranteed money) is 5mil for 2011 and 7mil for 2012 if he wants to remain on the team after 2010 he will have to lower those base rates! _________________

I'd be more frustrated with Bob Sanders if he had played every game this year up to this point and was one of the reasons our defense was looking so good.
Three months ago, I would have slapped myself if I typed this: Out of the 3 guys we put on IR, the biggest loss was Tyjuan Hagler. _________________ stallyns' 10th annual Packers vs Colts Super Bowl Prediction
It could happen
Games Played before IR
Bob Sanders - 2 of 7
Marlin Jackson - 4 of 7
Tyjuan Hagler - 7 of 7 |

I'd have to agree. Sanders hasn't been a factor thus far this season. In Wheeler's first game he only had 4 tackles. Session had to help out with 14 tackles (13 solo tackles) _________________

Thats definitely true for me too. Jackson and Sanders are unfortunately reaping the negatives of the style of football they play. Smashmouth football in smaller(comparatively....and not to me) bodies. When they are healthly it's great to watch but when they get injured it's unfortunate but definitely not surprising. _________________

The only problem with your argument is that the Player's Union has gone on the record saying that if they ever have a season without a salary cap, they will NEVER go back to a salary cap. If there isn't a salary cap, the talent on this team will only have to be judged by whether or not Jim Irsay is willing to spend more of his money. _________________
