http://tfdssports.com/2009-articles/november/raiders-to-make-several-roster-moves-in-coming-days.html

after reading this article i began to wonder whats going to happen to our WR corps. after we get Chaz and Nick Miller back?

I know we start Chaz and DHB but then it gets murky. Murph Dogg and NMill are viable options in the slot too and we can't forget about JLH. What should we do?

I say start Chaz and DHB (<- he'll break out of his shell eventually) and sort of run a spread offense at times. Our WR's are special but unproductive and exposing coverage like this could open it up. JR is much better out of the shotgun and would get more time in the pocket

Actually if we run a spread he'd have less time to throw because there's less people blocking. JR is better in shotgun but he's still not good in shotgun.

DHB is playing way too much.

One the unknown reasons Randy Moss was such an animal as a rookie is because he was the #3 wr the whole year and only played about 25 snaps a game. But 4-5 of those snaps were forced deep balls to sleeping defenders to him.

DHB is getting over explosed.

If Chaz and JLH are healthy they are my starters, and Murph starts before DHB

You are giving Miller the undersized RFA KR the nod over Higgins. Miller has a lot of work to do to become a WR at this level imo. Not to mention, he's not played since preseason.

Regardless, I don't think there is any hope for the offense and the WR with Russell at QB. He simply can't get the ball on the spot downfield consistency. It's the reason our best WR last season only caught 22 balls and why no WR this year is doing squat. They need a QB to play with.

^^^JLH ended last season with some good games and this year he has been totally phased out of the offense. They're saying he lacks confidence following the hit he took on MNF but that was 7 weeks ago. This is the coaches job to get his confidence back. From what i have seen they hardly ever put him on the field... He probably never will be a starting quality WR but we desperately need him right now. To me, this is another failure from the coaching staff.

And Nick Miller has done what exactly? He had a few catches in preseason... Where is Johnnie Morant?

I'm confused with the DC order right now and all i'm saying is i wouldn't expect Nick Miller to see much playing time when he comes back. At best, he'd be the 4th WR but IMO JLH should be ahead of him on the DC.

We know Walker won't see the field (probably because Al has decided to let him rot on the sidelines). Watkins wouldn't be on the active roster if it wasn't for Chaz and Nick Miller's injuries and i expect him to get cut soon. DHB will keep starting because he's a 1st rd pick.

Which leaves us with:

-Chaz and DHB as starters

-Murphy, JLH and Miller backing them up.

-Walker likely to be inactive. (He will stay because his salary is guaranteed in 09 and 10)

-Watkins out of here.

If Miller starts showing something in a game that counts with his limited playing time, obviously he will move up the DC, but right now, i don't see any reason to put him ahead of Murphy or JLH.

This is not a dilemma, put the best you have on the field.

+1 Chaz and Murph to start.

I actually think Nick Miller is our best slot guy. He remeinds me so much of Brandon Stokely and also a lil bit of Wes Welker.

Really? You can tell that from a couple catches in preseason?

People. Nick Miller was an URFA for a reason. He's a small school product, who will need a lot of practice to hone his route running.

I get annoyed when every undersized WR is compared to Welker. LEt's see the undersized guy catch 10 passes a game and move the chains on a consistent basis before we make such bold statements.
