| As we know Ed Reed currently holds 2 NFL records. The longest interception return in history with a 108 yard return, and the most interception return yards in a season with 358. Through just seven games Darren Sharper has amassed 7 picks and 317 interception return yards. I can not help but think Darren has an incredibly high chance of breaking Ed's record which would be heart breaking to me at least. On the other hand though it could serve as a motivation to Ed in some weird way. Thoughts? |

The numbers are similar... but the play isn't. Ed Reed made the picks on a very good defense that played in mostly close games. Sharper plays on a pretty crappy defense that gets the benefit of watching the opposing QB try and force the ball into holes because they have to overcome two or three touchdown defecits. _________________

I don't know if I'd call the Saints defense crappy, but you're right this year he's been in an ideal situation for INT's. _________________

Since Sir Ed Reed came into the league nobody has as many interceptions as he. Ravens fans nor Ed reed himself should have anything to be upset about . |

dont they give up like 30 points a game? They're almost as bad as our defense pre- bye week. _________________

They give up 22 per game, though that was a lot lower before the 3 game slate of ATL, MIA and NYG. That defense is legit. Not top 10, but they're pretty good. And one of the reasons they are good is because Sharper (and other guys) are ballhawks, getting 21 turnovers on the year already. _________________ The saying is "I couldn't care less". Well, the day that some team manages to slow down Brees and the opposing offense doesn't have to try to dig themselves out of a huge deficit, that defense will be exposed. Miami already showed it can be ran on fairly easily. Then Sharper won't be getting gift picks no mo. _________________

I agree with that. But i don't see the offense slowing down much. They are pretty good.
You speak the truth though. A great offense can really expose the other team's offense when they become very one dimensional. _________________ The saying is "I couldn't care less". If you could care less, then why bother to tell me? |

Does it really matter? He's talking about an NFL record. It doesn't matter if you are playing on a crappy defense or not. _________________ Go Cincinnati Bengals! Go Washington Huskies! |

Ed Reed is a playmaker... Darren Sharper is in the right place at the right time... Can't take anything away from Sharper but he's a janitor... Reed is just a monster... He's so smart that he even jumps routes... Can't compare the two _________________

I beg to differ. Sharper is a very smart player. There's a reason he's in the right place at the right time. I mean, you can make the same argument against both players. Both of them are around the ball a lot because they're smart players that know how to read QB tendencies on the fly.
Please, don't try to downplay Sharper's play. There's a reason he has 61 picks in his career.
Sharper: 61 picks in 190 games - or 1 every 3.11 games
Reed: 45 picks in 113 games - or 1 every 2.5 games
Reed has a little better average, but it's not like Sharper hasn't been doing it his entire career. _________________ The saying is "I couldn't care less". If you could care less, then why bother to tell me? |
