Vikings | Made Two Offers for Jaguars' Darius - from www.KFFL.com
Mon, 14 Mar 2005 00:45:28 -0800
Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union, reports the Minnesota Vikings gave two trade proposals to the Jacksonville Jaguars regarding Jaguars SS Donovin Darius. Both trade offers were turned down by the Jaguars. According to the report, the Vikings first offered the Jaguars their No. 7 overall pick for the Jaguars No. 21 pick and Darius. The team's second offer was reportedly a third-round pick for Darius.
With them offering the 7th pick, that should let you the whole DJ thing is dead.
Now reports say that Tampa is really lookin at gettin Williams. Where would that leave us? Who do you think they will (not who you want, but who you think they will) draft? |

Simply because they OFFERED something, does not mean they do not want something.
They more than likely realized that with the 7th overall pick, there is a fair chance that neither, DJ, Mike Williams, or Braylon Edwards will be there at #7... so they were attempting to see what they could do with it.
at the time, (before signing Sharper) it was a fairly good deal since they'd be able to look at paying a later pick guy a lot less cash, as well as acquiring a proven "elite" SS. (something almost worth a top 10 pick to an extent)
So dont sit here and say they're not going to do something simply because they explored an option...
They probably sit and do little "mock drafts" of their own, and realize there is the possibility that the 3 targets they highly seek could very well be gone by the #7 pick, and it doesnt seem to illogical to shop it around and see what you can get with it. _________________
