Lol, someone's jealous. |
"his" team has the best RB in the league... whats there to be jealous of |
Adrian Peterson is still in another league. Chris Johnson is super fast which makes him very special.
If Peterson had that speed.. OMG! But, Peterson is just a darn BEAST!
But, after Peterson, I wouldn't take any other back over Johnson *AT THE MOMENT*
I'm glad he's getting over the dancing in the backfield _________________ I THINK BO SCAIFE IS THE TENNESSEE TITANS MOST OVERRATED PLAYER ON THE ROSTER.... |

Everyone is always bringing this up. All backs with speed around CJ's level (around, not equal to, no one has that) tend to dance a little to see if they can't break a big one, but I wasn't aware it was a real issue for CJ. Can someone who has watched him since he's been in the league, probably a Titans fan, please clarify this for me? |

He tends to dance a little. Far, far less than your stereotypical scat back, but occasionally it results in negative yardage or 0/1 yard runs. He's definitely gotten better at just moving downfield though. _________________

It's a pretty tough line to draw. The dancing can help him spring a long run. So you don't want him burrowing his head into his center's behind on every play and digging for 2 YPC. But you also don't want him dancing to the point of losing yards every carry. Obviously, at nearly 7.0 YPC, he's not dancing so much that it's killing the team. I think he had one game where I was frustrated that he didn't hit the hole quicker. The other times, I'll take the occasional stutter-step if it can lead at an 89 yard sprint for 6. _________________

Well, His HIGH ypc is actually a result of these big runs he's been springing this season. So, when he does dance he makes up for it with those big runs. But when/if those big runs stop, he still shouldn't be dancing in the backfield..
Which he has gotten better at.
And usually, from what I've seen, the dancing is when he's trying to find something bigger than what he's being given. _________________ I THINK BO SCAIFE IS THE TENNESSEE TITANS MOST OVERRATED PLAYER ON THE ROSTER.... |

You know what's funny? I heard someone before the draft say he's a less talented Reggie Bush.
If Johnson had played in the SEC for a team like Alabama, Florida, or LSU he would have easily been a Top 10 Pick.
Which I'm glad he wasn't because we picked 24th that year _________________

Earlier in the season he was dancing around WAY to much in a couple of games and it was obvious on the sideline that the coaches were very unhappy with him because instead of just taking a six or seven yard gain, he was bouncing around and ending up with negative yardage on early downs. _________________

With his success (especially this year) I think C.J. Spiller won't last long enough for Green Bay to draft him. And gosh do we need a running back with some short speed! _________________

It wasn't a systematic thing but a few times he cut back when the designed hole was there. _________________

With Chris Johnson, I think some Titans fans don't understand the difference between dancing in the backfield and the little hesitation he gives before cutting up field on occasion. By waiting that extra second for the hole to open up, he draws defenders up the field, and than blows past them due to his amazing cutting ability and quickness through the hole. If he just sticks his head down and runs where the hole is supposed to be, he may not get stuffed as often, but we would lose a lot of his long runs and explosive plays. _________________

I'm not going to lie, I thought Tennessee reached on him last year taking him in the first. Boy was I wrong. He has been a sensational player and IMO is currently a top-5 runningback.
Those third down stats are pretty ridiculous as well. _________________
