Quote:
Fui Vakapuna’s agent, Andy Simms, has confirmed that the fullback will be added to the roster later today. Vakapuna is en route from Arizona and is expected to get to town tonight.

Vakapuna was drafted in the seventh round by the Bengals this year but was released during the last round of cuts. He was signed to Arizona’s practice squad a couple days later and has spent the first eight weeks with them. The only the way the Bengals could’ve added Vakapuna is to sign him to the 53-man roster, which is what Tampa Bay did last week with Chris Pressley.

Andre Smith will probably active for this week's game then, since Scott Kooistra was released.

I hope Fui gets some playing time, i liked him as a rushing/pass catching FB.

If Andre gets activated then what spot does Fui take?

Probably one of the safeties or an offensive lineman.

Good signing. This is a good back up plan since J. Johnson is nursing a bad knee and our other FB went to Tampa.

Andre has been activated for several weeks IIRC. His roster exemption only lasted a few weeks into the season. He's just been on the injury list for the past few weeks so he's been deactivated for the games themselves.

Agreed. I was a big fan of Pressley.

The move comes three days too late. We can almost all agree that we should have moved Pressley up to the 53 man roster.

He's probably the better blocker, but what are we going to use Fui for? Probably pass catching and some running, if i had to guess. And Pressley isn't that guy.

At this point in time, Vakapuna is here for insurance and nothing more. I'm sure he'll grow into some sort of role down the line but as for now he's just a back up. They still wanted Chris Pressely.

Quote:
Vakapuna is here for insurance and Bratkowski said Johnson looked OK in practice, as did Scott.

"We had a guy in training and waiting there with Chris," said Bratkowski of the departure of Chris Pressley from the practice squad to Tampa Bay. "We felt we needed to do this to keep us in good position for the rest of the year."

Any word on Leonard? Fui seems like a Leonard type and being brought in might have more than Jeremi being dinged up?

Leonard isn't on the injury report, so i don't think that's it. Just Jeremi being banged up. He was limited yesterday, so he could end up questionable for this week.
