Hosted by the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium in the first AFCN match up of the 09' season.
Bengals Last Game: 31 - 24, Win at GB.
Steelers Last Game: 17 - 14, Loss at CHI.
Bengals Injury Report
Steelers Injury Report
-------------------------------------------------------
Personnel match ups to watch
Max Starks LT vs Antwan Odom DE - This is going to be an ongoing battle throughout the day. Odom is coming off a fantastic day against the Packers where he posted 5 sacks. Max Starks is playing extremely well in pass protection but his true weakness has been his ability to get push on running plays.
Laveranues Coles, Chad Ochocinco vs Ike Taylor, William Gay - Short crossing routes and WR screens were extremely effective in Cincinnati's win over GB and the Steelers loss to the Bears. The play making ability of the Bengals wide outs and the closing speed and tackling of the Steelers CBs are going to be one of the game breaking impacts on Sunday.
-------------------------------------------------------
Game Notes
- Ben Roethlisberger has had great success against the Bengals throughout his career posting an overall record of 8-2 all time, 5-0 as a visitor (still undefeated in Ohio) and victorious in their playoff game in 05' in route to his first Super Bowl
- Pittsburgh leads the all time series 48-30 (including postseason) including the last 5.
- This will be the 3rd straight game where the Bengals face a 3-4 front.
-------------------------------------------------------
Prediction
- I think it's going to be the week that both teams pick up their level of play and are much more efficient then their first two outings. Less penalties, fewer turnovers and good defense. Lookin forward to it. Big Ben's the difference maker in the 4th QTR
Steelers - 24
Bengals - 21 _________________

| I think it'll be a close game but the Bengals will be more determined, having lost the past 5 games I believe, and will pull off a win. Carson should (hopefully) perform at his normal level as he appeared to in the GB game after his two picks. |

Carter expected to play Sunday
| Quote: | Carter suffered a thigh contusion against the Bears, but returned to the game after the injury. He is expected to be limited in practice on Wednesday, but Coach Mike Tomlin thinks he “should be fine by Thursday or so at the latest.”
If Carter couldn’t go, Ryan Mundy would get the call at strong safety. |

I fear Steelers defense will struggle all day to put enough pressure on Palmer. He will get time enoug to complete the short routes to his WRs or even to test Carter again and agin.
The defense just seems to be a level below last season (who can blaime them?) and unless Steelers rungame and Ben can take a lot time of the clock - it will be hard to win.
Hopefully LeBaue and the defense prove me wrong and Steeles put up a win with no diffeculties. _________________

DAAAMMIT!
And I thought he'd be out
Can't we just replace him with a scarecrow? Im sure it's more effective than Carter. At least he will strike SOME fear in his opponents _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Hey Guys,
Been away for quite some time. Got a new job and bought a new house in July, so time is limited. Still following the team and the site religiously, just don't have as much time as I would like to post.
Quick question, what time is the game this weekend? I thought it was supposed to be at 4:15, but has the game time changed to 1:00 due to the Jewish holiday? Hopefully it's at 4:15 because I have to work until 3:30. _________________

Don't fool yourself. Carter is still the best option with Troy out. He's not a GOOD option, but I'm more comfortable with him than Ryan Mundy at this point. |

Carson's prowess concerns Steelers
| Quote: | Next up for a Steelers defense that has been good but not dominant is quarterback Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals, who may have pulled off the biggest upset in the second week of the NFL season.
The Steelers didn't face Palmer, who missed most of last season with an elbow injury, in 2008. Unfortunately for them, he fits the profile of the quarterbacks who have had success against the Steelers through the first two weeks of the season.
Like Kerry Collins and Jay Cutler, Palmer has a big-time arm, the size to stand tall and absorb hits in the pocket and a track record of success in the NFL.
Whether he can help the Bengals end a five-game losing streak against the Steelers may depend on how much Palmer is able to emulate Cutler, who led the Bears a 17-14 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Sunday in Chicago. |

If he's at full health, I think Timmons has a good chance at being the difference maker on Sunday. Without the Bengals having a receiving threat at TE, I think he will be lined up all across the field playing fast and in space. Wouldn't be surprised to see his first big game in 09' on Sunday. _________________

That's going to make a HUGE difference between this game and the first two.
I wonder why they won't activate Coffman _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |
