With the 3rd Selection, The New York Hitmen select:
Jason Smith // Offensive Tackle
I also considered the man who is believed to be the other Top QB prospect with this pick, but after adding Losman with my last Free Agency selection I felt that adding a cornerstone Left Tackle was a better option. Smith isn't the most polished Left Tackle in the Draft Class but his potential is through the roof. With some NFL coaching and more experience I think Smith could easily become one of the Top LT's in the GFL.

The New Jersey Shore Select:
Offensive Tackle, Eugene Monroe [Virginia]
We were hoping Jason Smith would fall one more spot to us at four, but we are still happy to select Eugene Monroe. We understand that games are won in the trenches so we wanted to get a good, young franchise Left Tackle, which Monroe suits perfectly. Monroe has great size at 6'6 and 315 pounds. He has the best footwork out of any Offensive Tackle in this draft. _________________

Via trade...With the 6th Selection in the 2009 GFL Rookie Draft
The Green Bay Blizzard select....
Mark Sanchez - QB - USC
I traded up to grab my franchise QB, i'm glad he fell this far as they don't grow off trees. I didn't really like anyone around the #14 spot so I traded up and got pretty fair value. My team is looking good, and Sanchez won't be thrown into the fire. Instead, he will sit behind Kerry Collins and learn the playbook. Slowly being eased into the starting position.
Welcome to Green Bay, Mark! _________________

The Akron Argonauts select...
Andre Smith - OT
If the guy can stay in shape, he has so much talent it's ridiculous. He had a chance to go in the top couple picks of the draft before showing up to the combine out of shape, but we believe that his immense talent is worth the risk. He'll stay in shape and become the cornerstone left tackle of the Akron Argonauts. _________________ Rest In Peace crakburn and B2TB :: '08 AND '09 Footballs Future Fantasy Baseball Keeper League Champion

The Columbus Panhandles Would Like To Welcome...
Malcolm Jenkins, CB
We feel he's going to be set up to succeed. He was a top ten prospect in this draft class, and our FO only had Aaron Curry, Andre Smith, Eugene Monroe, and Michael Crabtree graded out higher. At Ohio State he was as close to lockdown as it comes, and he was seldom beat. He's physical, and can come up at the LOS, and he's great in coverage. For those who question his speed, you need to reconsider. It has been proven that the 3-cone drill is a better indicator of success, and more important that the 40 yard dash. Jenkins' three cone drill was elite, I believe the best in this draft class. And secondly let me point you to the following. In HS Jenkins was a track and field athlete. He won the state title in 400 meter dash, and finished 3rd in 200 meter dash.
Any questions about has coverage skills are equally absurd. He's plenty fast, and he doesn't get beat, it's that simple. Last year teams generally stayed away from him. But he was thrown at 60 times. Well he allowed only 3.83 ypa, and 7.67 ypc. 230 yards allowed in 13 games. Also can play special teams, blocking 3 kicks/punts in his career. |
