The Chiefs just signed ILB Kendrell Bell to a 7-year deal... now with Bell gone and Hartwell most likely out of our price range, I don't think we'll be able to sign a premiere LB for our 3-4... _________________ "Anything that is worth doing is worth doing right." |

Bell has a lingering groin injury. He hasn't stayed healthy since his rookie year.
You know what's funny? Savage said he isn't going to go after big free agents, but we signed some top (available) talent in Baxter and Coleman.
Pehaps that was the smokescreen to keep other teams from outbidding us for a player we like.
I don't think we need to worry about signing linebackers. I have confidence that Phil and Romeo know where to get the players they need. They don't need to sign high priced guys, just find big smart tough players in the middle of the free agent pool and in the draft. |

Yeah I agree w/ DitchDigger you guys really don't need LBs I personally like Chaun Thompson and I can't think of his name at the moment but #59 he is solid aswell.
Q: Don't you guys have Warrick Holman? Why hasn't he been given a chance If he has Please excuse me for I am a Panther fan. |

Hes a free agent right now, think we might pick up Roman Phifer as well but I would LOVE to see Andra Davis and Brant Boyer as our MLB. Im sure ill get some comments on this but I think is Crenel can teach Boyer the system Boyer could be our Tedy Bruschi! _________________ Second Mock of 2011 |

59 was Kevin Bentley. He was a restricted free agent, but not tendered an offer. He was a good coverage linebacker, but the knock on him is that he isn't physical. Hence his departure.
Warrick Holdman was not offered a contract, and is a free agent.
If Boyer cracks the starting lineup, it means he outplayed everyone else in camp. As the roster stands now, there's a possibility of that. |

| Are you guys serious... I think Boyer is just about out of gas, and he's no Tedy Bruschi! I think we had better look toward the draft to fill the missing linebacker pieces! |

New England kept 10 linebackers on the roster. As of now, we have 6. 7 if you count Courtney Brown making the switch.
We'll probably get at least 3 guys to can play linebacker in the draft. Most will probably be smaller d-linemen. |

We would probably use our 2nd or 3rd rounder on a linebacker... _________________

Everyone under estimates Boyer but that guy plays balls out every game even it is just on Special Teams. Thats the kind of guys you need, the guys who will go out on that field every Sunday and give you everything they've got and more. Boyer is just that type of player, granted hes not no Ray Lewis, or Urlacher Im not saying that at all but who else other then Andra Davis are you going to start next to him. I dont really think anyone else is really suited to play there other then Boyer unless we pick up someone else. _________________ Second Mock of 2011 |

Ben Taylor and Chaun Thompson both have the size to play inside.
Then there's the draft.
I really don't see Boyer being anything but a contributor in the middle, but that's not bad.
There are many roles on a football team, Boyer will definitely find one on ours, just probably not at starter. |

| How probable would it be to see C. Brown line up as a LB? I know he has ton of talent but it just doesn't sound like a very easy move. I defer to others that may have more knowledge on what it would realistically take to have Brown make the move and be effective in the LB position. |

I love moving Courtney to LB. Hes still very quick and wont take as much of a pounding playing LB as he would DE wheres he is getting hit and in the trenches and people taking out his knees. Playing OLB that wont happen as much and which should result in a more healthy Courtney Brown _________________ Second Mock of 2011 |

There is a good amount of LB talent in rounds 2 & 3:
DeMarcus Ware (maybe)
Matt Roth (maybe)
Justin McCune
Daryl Blackstock
Kevin Burnett
Eric Morrison

If Burnett slips to 2nd RD Philly will gobble him up with the pick right before the Browns but I hope Minnesota gets despearate and wants DJ trades up to us for both of there first picks. Then we grab Merriman at 7, and at 18 grab a Corner. Then with out pick in the 2nd RD we select Charlie Frye. _________________ Second Mock of 2011 |
