I just read a great article from the Press Democrat. It explains why we might chase Boston and says that we are actually looking to add him. It also says this:
| Quote: | Cornerback Mike Rumph, the team's top draft pick in 2002, might move to free safety this season, Nolan said.
The defensive staff is considering the move, which has been speculated since the 49ers selected him with the No.27 overall pick.
"Everybody likes to say, 'Well, if you can't play corner, you can play safety,'" Nolan said. "That's really not the truth. Some guys can make the transition, some can't. But aside from that, we've got some depth in the secondary. It is also a position we'd like to add someone in free agency." |
So speculation from everyone is actually correct. Nolan is considering moving Rumph to FS, which I believe is a perfect position for him. Will it work? Who knows...
| Quote: | Running back Kevan Barlow is not going anywhere, Nolan said. Barlow, who signed a big-money deal last offseason, struggled along with the entire offense in 2004.
"Kevan is our back," Nolan said. "He has to perform at a better level than he did last year, and it's our anticipation that he'll come back and do that. That is why we have minicamps, training camp and the whole bit." |
This quiets people's speculation about Kevan being dumped. Looks like the rumor about the niners picking up Brown with the first pick is not true.
