It's good business for the Vikings. It might be worth a try.

Did you guys watched NYJ x TEN last season? Favrč knowing that his opposition were very good at pass-rushing, spent the whole game giving short and quick passes to avoid the pressure...

So, to those people saying Favrč will be Favrč and will try to make the big plays and thus, continue being a turnover machine... Maybe not. Just throwing out a possibility...

Guys here are acting like Brett Favrč is some egocentrical -... He might be... But I don't think so, I don't think he comes near to being a -, maybe egocentrical, but not dumb at all...

Favre didn't call the plays, Schotty did. Favre just executed it well for the most part. When he tried to go deep, he was intercepted. But the throw he made near the end zone with three guys around Coles was pretty amazing.

No he isn't. He said "Favrč knowing that his opposition were very good at pass-rushing, spent the whole game giving short and quick passes to avoid the pressure...," basically giving him credit for singlehandedly breaking down their defense, which he did not do. Schotty gave him the plays, and he executed them. That doesn't even matter anyway, he was still erratic with his throws later on in the season.

Favre doesnt have to be a game manager.

We will run the ball 25-30 times a game, Favre will get his shots. I dont know who said anything about being a game manager. MN has more than enough weapons at WR/TE to have an effective pass offense. Its just our strength is running over teams.

Hahaahahaha.

Oh... you were serious. My bad.

You clearly are extremely misinformed, or living three years in the past.

Bernard Berrian - 48 rec. 964 yds 7 tds 20 yds/rec
Visanthe Shiancoe - 42 rec 596 yds 7 tds
Bobby Wade - 53 rec 645 yds 2 tds
Sidney Rice - Enormous amount of potential, great redzone threat.
Percy Harvin - Thought to be biggest playmaker in the draft.
Chester Taylor - 45 rec, 399 yds, 2 td

For a run based offense, those are very good numbers for the receivers, especially having to catch passes from Gus Frerotte most of the year.

With Adrian Peterson drawing most of the defenses attention, there are going to be a lot of opportunities for the receivers to make plays.

Obviously, you arent too familiar with the Vikes playmakers, but if you add a QB like Favre, who is clearly an upgrade over Gus, those numbers will be substantially higher.

Yeah he does. If he just airs it out all the time, he's going to get picked off. It's not just the weapons at his disposal. He loves the thrill of trying to force balls into tight spots, that's always been the way he's done it. It isn't going to change.

While Favre does have the reputation for this - and the all time interception record to back it up, he did show in 2007 that he is capable of holding back and playing in a more controlled manner. In 2007 with the Packers he played at an almost MVP level for much of the year.

Some of the credit for this has to go to Mike McCarthy's coaching. People may question whether Childress is a competent enough coach to reign in Favre's gunslinger urges, but there is one thing Chilly does have on his side to help him out. Favre probably wants to keep his continuous games started streak intact. If he starts getting too wild, Chilly can just threaten to start Rosenfels or Jackson the following week.

My god can we finally get passed the Farve debate? I cant stand coming on here and knowing when Farve went to the bathroom or what he bought at a mini mart. Anyway being serious I hope he stays retired. HE cant just keep coming back.

I'm sorry but anyone in this forum who says Favre would not make that team better is dumber than Jamie Dukes.

Favre would be surrounded by a more potent offense than the Jets OR the Packers. He'd be better than last year because he is A) on a run-first team--even though the Jets were too, Peterson/Taylor is much better; and B) Dome cancels out the cold weather. This isn't rocket science, he'd make them much better contenders than they are now, and that is saying something.

For all the haters/those living in denial: If the Vikings sign Favre by training camp, the Vikings will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

McCarthy was his quarterback coach while he was young, so there is an obvious level of trust there. I'm not sure Childress is a guy that Favre would trust.

**Update according to rotoworld.com

Quote:
According to the New York Daily News, one NFL source insists free agent Brett Favre "can't peacefully retire until he finds a way to get revenge on the Packers."

Quote:
"Favre can't stand Green Bay," the source said. "He wants to play Green Bay and say, 'I told you so.' His bitterness is creating this. I think he's calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven't heard the end of Favre. No way. He is bionic. As long as somebody will let him in, he will play."

Shocked

Actually I agree. Although Bobby Wade is around average or below, the rest of the group isn't bad. They've been dragged down numbers-wise because of mediocre or bad QB play.

Like I said before, let him try and "stick" it to TT and the Packers. I guarantee you there are a few defenders on this team who have a bad taste for the way Favre made his exit from GB who'd love to get a hard hit on him.
