Have a great elite QB you cannot pay the WR as well more often than not and that is the smart move. Thus Hill gone off the Chiefs and Adams gone off the Packers and now Diggs off the Bills. Unless your QB is on a rookie deal yeah it is better off going with depth and variety, granted they do have to hit as prospects but Texans can spend big because Stroud is on a rookie deal and Vikings will pay Jefferson most likely because they now have a QB on a rookie deal and obviously decided not to pay up for Cousins. Khalil Shakir/ Marquez Valdes-Scantling/ Justin Shorter/ Tyrell Shavers Keon Coleman/ Chase Claypool/ KJ Hamler/ Bryan Thompson Curtis Samuel/ Mack Hollins/ Andy Isabella/ Xavier Johnson Dalton Kincaid/ Dawson Knox/ Quintin Morris/ Tre' McKitty They will not all make the roster but you have multiple big body WRs behind Coleman in Hollins, Claypool, Shorter and Shavers. Got the slot guys in Shakir, Samuel possibly and Hamler. Have deep threat in Valdes-Scantling and Isabella. Have a versatile WR/RB who could do things on special teams in Xavier Johnson and is a wild card and Samuel is kind of the same thing and move proven in doing it also. Then have a super deep TE group and bringing over McKitty was solid and Morris could maybe be something and Kincaid should be even better after his rookie year. If Coleman is legit and I think he is, and Shakir takes another step up they will be just fine with Kincaid and Knox already in place. Having options is not bad and they have plenty of options to toy with during camp and see who emerges.

At his age? He's 29... If the Lions did want to trade him in a couple years he'd still be in his early 30s, that's not old for a QB. However, even though your reasoning is off the point is valid because if the Lions were looking to trade Goff it would mean he isn't living up to the deal in which case no one would want him anyway.
