| i know that he has the Fran. ttag on him, but it is reported that he is up for trade. I would give up #20 and a later round pick. I bet they would want th #11 spot and i dont know if i would be willing to part with it. |

| I believe that when a player is franchised that it would take two first round picks to get him. |

| My understanding if another team comes in and signs him they have to give up two 1st round picks the team can trade him for whatever they want. |

Not quite America's Team.
Teams can negotiate a trade for a franchised player. It could be 2 first round picks, 1 first round pick, 2 other picks, or could involve players. The 2 first round picks is just a baseline.
Now if a team wants to sign a franchise player outright and can't come to terms with the other team, then it must give 2 first round picks. _________________

| Interesting, but it doesnt look like we have any players that they would want. At least none that we would be willing to give up. |

I'll pass.
if we could have signed him as a FA, I would have been all for it. but we have to many holes to fill to just trade away our high draft picks.
plus, at #11 we could draft a players as good as Abraham |

players as good as him? no player in the draft is proven, just to begin. 2nd he is one of the top DE's in all of football. You just dont find those types of guys in every draft. Look at the top 5 DE's drafted in each of the last 10 years and i be he is near the top of that list..... _________________

1 9 Kevin Williams DE Oklahoma State
1 13 Ty Warren DE Texas A&M
1 14 Michael Haynes DE Penn State
1 15 Jerome McDougle DE Miami
1 18 Calvin Pace DE Wake Forest
1 2 Peppers, Julius DE North Carolina
1 11 Freeney, Dwight DE Syracuse
1 22 Thomas, Bryan DE Ala.-Birmingham
1 25 Grant, Charles DE Georgia
2 35 Edwards, Kalimba DE South Carolina
1 4 Smith, Justin DE Missouri
1 7 Carter, Andre DE California
1 10 Reynolds, Jamal DE Florida State
2 34 Vanden Bosch, Kyle DE Nebraska
2 46 Schobel, Aaron DE Texas Christian
1 1 Brown, Courtney DE Penn State
1 12 Ellis, Shaun DE Tennessee
1 13 Abraham, John DE South Carolina
2 33 Howard, Darren DE Kansas State
2 35 Engelberger, John DE Virginia Tech
1 16 Kearse, Jevon DE Florida
1 20 Ekuban, Ebenezer DE North Carolina

since 99, 5 years, here are the top 25 de's. we have 5-6 people who i would consider franchise players. and J Abraham is probaly number 2 on that list _________________

I know this and it is exactly why we would have to overapy to get him. if you want to thats fine but I don't. the Jets aren't just going to give this guy away. |

I'll also have to pass. We did the 2 first rd thing before and that was not worth it. We must get 2 impact players with our 1st rounders, not just one. _________________ If you can read this, thank a teacher.

your missing the point...
there is a very large chance that the number 11 person becomes a bust....
You can draft a person WHO YOU THINK will be great, or trade and get someone who is GREAT.
if the Jets wanted to trade our number 11 for abraham, i might just do it, because he can play DE and OLB. he's proven great at both positions. and hes not that old. _________________

can a player picked at #11 be a bust YES. should he be a bust NO. so if we F up the draft then yes ,the pick might be a waste but if our scouts and Parcells do they're job, we should get a great player.

Don't get me wrong, JA is a great player. He like any other guy out on that field is one play away from a career ending injury. At least with 2 guys (2- picks) we have doubled our odds of having quality player out on the field.
one first rd maybe, two no way! _________________ If you can read this, thank a teacher.

I'm with Matts. Abraham is better than what we'll get at 11, unless a miracle happens and somebody falls.
I'd like to see somebody post a good arguement on that point. Who would be better at 11?
The arguement would be totally on the assumption that whoever we take can be a bonafide stud in the NFL.
Don't like assumptions.
Would rather have a for sure thing. |

he is good but plays on a dLine that is way better and bigger then what we have at the moment. He plays with Ellis Fergason and Robetson.
If we go 3-4 he would play outside linebacker.
Merriman could be similiar to John A _________________
