Cut Scott Gragg. Either sign a FA to play RT, or if you can work the trade down, draft Jammal Brown. Also need to replace Heitmann at LG...I think Heitmann and Kosier would be valuable backups who could start if necessary. Not really possible to get Cadillac and Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards. If we're going to get someone to platoon with Barlow (which I like) I say sign Chester Taylor from Baltimore...reasonably priced. Offense should therefore look like this:
QB
Tim Rattay--Ken Dorsey
RB
Kevan Barlow--Chester Taylor
FB
Fred Beasley--Terry Jackson
TE
Eric Johnson--Aaron Walker
WR
Rashaun Woods (#1)--Brandon Lloyd (#2)--Cedrick Wilson (slot)--Arnaz Battle--Derrick Hamilton
OT
Kwame Harris--FA or draft choice
OG
Justin Smiley--FA or draft choice
C
Jeremy Newberry
(Kosier and Heitmann backups on OL) _________________

you say it like we are assured the #1 pick next year. NO ist's not gonna happen we are going to get stuck with a #6 through 15 next year and have no shot at a franchise QB we must draft Rodgers this year. |

ok heres what i think san fran's offense should look like next year..
QB: Tim Rattay (he looked good in those couple of games when he subbed for Garcia, but he had the talent around him then , and he needs that to be great now)
RB: Barlow and draft pick or FA (barlow needs a line to be great)
WR: Williams or Edwards (we need one of these guys in the draft , our other receivers are good but not great , we need a new TO with out the negative media attetion)
WR: Lloyd and Woods (they will fill the no. 2 and no. 3 spots perfectly)
TE: Eric Johnson
OT: FA or draft
OG: FA or draft
C: newberry
(everyone on our starting offensive line are great backups not starters)
if you hav any suggestions or concerns let me know |

WOW aside from Johnson and Newberry I tottaly disagree with everything Lloyd and Woods are fine at 1 and 2 wr's Rattay had 3 good games in his career and 2 were against the cardinals Barlows gone by march 1st
QB: Aaron Rodgers reasons obvious our situation now is horrible.
RB: (Shaun Alexander not gonna happen) I say the best runningback available in the draft either Ciatrick or Ronnie Brown and let hicks start the season at #1
wr 1: Lloyd breakout year upcomming
wr 2: Woods 500 to 700 yards good #2
te: Johnson do I need to explain
Kwame Harris and Newberry
rest of Line needs major reconstructive surgery. |

Excellent knowledge...<cough>
Rattay didn't play the 2nd game against the Cards. And for what it's worth, he has 12 career starts, 3 of them in the offense he studied that we are now returning to, and his numbers through 12 starts are better than Peyton Manning's. Perhaps a chance to operate the offense he learned for 3 years with a supporting cast better than the pile of sh*t we had last year is in order. _________________

Rattay's not a 6 year vet...he's a 4 year vet. And he studied the West Coast Offense for 3 seasons behind Jeff Garcia, and then when he got the chance to start, it was in Tollner's spread offense. Now we're going back to the WCO. It's all about actually playing...when Rattay got the chance to start, his numbers were better. And Manning had a quality offensive line and Marvin Harrison. This isn't suggesting that he will be better than Manning, because he won't. But it does mean that he certainly warrants more playing time, particularly now that we're back to the WCO. _________________
