Warrick Holdman would be a tremendous sign and a better acquisition than all those other FA Linebackers. Here's the scouting report on Holdman off of ESPN:
Holdman does not have very many weaknesses in his game and flashes the ability to be a consistent playmaker. He is an explosive player with excellent quickness, good speed and possesses good overall awareness and instincts. He has good change of direction skills and is an excellent player in space. He has good awareness in pass defense, gets good depth in his drops and seems to have a good feel for where the ball is going. Can match-up with back and tight ends in man to man coverage and can turn and run. He lacks great bulk and ideal strength and if he gets engaged with bigger blockers, he really struggles to break free and can be taken out of plays. Is not a guy that is going to step up and mix it up inside and needs to be on the move to be effective. Overall, Holdman has probably hit his ceiling in terms of potential, but is still an efficient starter when healthy.
He's still young at 29(his prime), still good, and obviously did nothing of note in Cleveland. Package Briggs, Urlacher and Holdman together and The Bears holy trinity of linebackers is complete. It also postpones their need to look at linebacker prospects in the draft for 1-2 years. |

I'd be fine with that. But I think they let him walk for salary reasons. He'd have to want to come back and maybe not get paid a ton. He was second on the team in tackles to Urlacher, I remeber that. |

Holdman was a good player for the Bears, but right after he got his big contract from us he did everthing but make big plays.
He is a good tackler and doesnt make many mistakes in coverage, but he just NEVER EVER comes up with the turnover or big play.
To much like Briggs to me, we need a playmaker, someone who flys around like Ian Gold. _________________ http://www.sportsattic.com/nflphoto/photos10/Payton,Walter36.jpg |
