If Kyle Boller can show enough improvement in the last 5 games, show that the last 1 1/2 quarter of the Bengals game wasn't a fluke, and we dont need to draft a QB and make Boller or the rookie the backup, who should we go after? Anthony Wright is done in Baltimore. i feel like Boller would really benefit from having a veteran QB, a calming presence, as a backup. my ideal backup would be Brad Johnson, i don't know if hes a FA or not, but he could teach Boller a thing or 2 about just relaxing, letting things come naturally, who else will be on the market?

Im pretty sure that Brad Johnson is not going to be a free agent. These are the only ones I can think of right now:

Shane Mattews
Charlie Batch
Jon Kitna
Anthony Wright Evil or Very Mad
Tim Hasselbeck
Jeff Garcia
Kurt Warner
Josh McCown
Jamie Martin

From that list, the guy I would probably want the most is Jon Kitna. Kurt Warner and Jeff Garcia could also be possiblities. After those 3, there is a drop in talent, out of the guys left I would probably want Jamie Martin.

Jon Kitna is definitely the No. 1 on that list, hell, if Boller falters again next year, we could even put Kitna in and be our sparkplug. but i really feel that getting a good backup QB is crucial for next year with questions surrounding Boller's ability to stay healthy (2 significant injuries in 3 years), and of course, whether he can even play well.

Jon Kitna is probably the best backup qb in the league right now IMO
