Rex Grossman will return for his sixth season with the Bears in 2008. On Saturday, the 2003 first-round draft pick agreed to a one-year contract with the Bears.
“I love the organization,” Grossman told ChicagoBears.com late last month. “They drafted me. A lot of bad things have happened to me since I’ve been here with injuries and things, but the 2006 season was a special one. We almost completed the ultimate goal. I want to finish that. I want to finish what I started and I want to be a Bear for the rest of my life.”

I'm predicting:
1. Rex Grossman will be benched after week 5, comes back after injury to backup
2. The Bears finish with a record of 2-14
3. Lovie Smith gets fired
4. Rex Grossman is cut (or let go from franchise)
5. Bears sign Florida QB Tim Tebow with 1st pick of draft
6. Same process over again
**Predictions based on my opinion
I really do think this was the worse thing to happen to Chicago. Rex just doesn't have the talent around him to make him "good". I think they'd be better off by getting Brian Brohm in the draft. _________________

A lot of injuries and "bad things" happened to Rex in Chicago. Yeah, Rex, it really is hard to talk about isn't it?
Eh, I guess he's cheap and knows the offense. Other than that, you're just hoping for lightning to strike twice in the same place imo. I can't see him ever being in another super bowl. _________________ Confucius Say: To make a long story short, don't tell it. |

Rex, Rex, Rex.
I agree with whoever said that he was cheap and knew the offense. It's not like Rex was ever a good QB. Sure, he had his games, but he only had a 73.9 passer rating--not good for a Super Bowl team. He's wildly inconsistent, but I think he could possibly be a decent QB if he just got his confidence up. _________________

I think that the fact that we only signed him to a one year deal shows that we are not committed to him, and we will be looking at a QB on the first day this draft.
Grossman had some very nice games, he also had some that were absolutely horrible. But, he comes fairly cheap ($3mil), knows our offense, has the confidence of his offense (believe it or not) and is certainly not the worst QB in the league. He is a stop gap in hopes that we can get a QB in this draft that can learn in '08 then start in '09. I believe we are going to move forward past Grossman and Orton, I don't see the front office having much faith in either of them becoming a great, or even very good, NFL QB. _________________

Not happening vd....he's just too much of a cap hit from what I see. We would have to give up picks (high ones) and/or players to get him then pay him $10 mil a year....just not going to happen.
Bears fans are mixed on that one though, some think he's worth giving up all that, I think that's insane to give up that much for a guy that is injured often and while he has his good times, he has many bad times as well. We are still trying to resign Berrian, Briggs, Ayanbadejo and T.Harris so we need all the cap room we can spare. _________________

So does this assure the NFC North of having the worst collective group of starting QB's of any Division in the NFL? Brett Favre notwithstanding, I cannot think of another division with worse starting QB's than Kitna, Grossman, and Jackson. _________________

Bummer. I had a hope he could come here and regain his confidence. But he probably gets a better shot a starting with the Bears. I just think he is on such a short leash, that one bad game and the city will be all over him.
As a firm believer in the Super bowl loser hex, I think Chicago has a good chance of returning to contention next year. _________________ Caveat Lector |

Considering that Rex only signed a year deal, I have to agree with Grrlacher in that Rex is just a stop gap. I would expect the Bears to go after a QB early in the draft and have them sit behind Grossman for a year. I'm guessing they go after Joe Flacco in round 2. _________________

Steve you just keep going.Just because of you I really hope we play the Vikings first so I can take the pleasure in watching Dusty Dvoracek plant Petersons head into the turf.He did that to LT so I dont see why he cant to AP .Honestly we finished 7-9 with the QB rotation going on we arent that bad to go 2-14. _________________

He'd have to get on the field and stay on it for that to happen. According to his career stats, Dvoracek has played one career game and has one career solo tackle. That was against LT? If it was, I think he should hang it up right now just for the story alone. Imagine being able to say the only tackle you ever made was against the best RB of his time in his prime. That's the stuff of legend. _________________
