NFL Snooze News: will be about anything NFL related that isn't directly Viking or NFC North related. however, a thread about a particular player we may have current interest in, such as Jared Allen or Asante Samuel, is still acceptable to stand on its own.
i'll ask members to show a lot of patience with each other until/if this becomes routine, particularly with new guys.
should these two new topics drop off the page, then it will be very difficult for members to recognize they should be using them, but we'll give it a try. _________________

So things like coaching hirings/firings or the NFL going back to London for instance?
One thing I have been trying to figure out is what exactly Al Davis thinks he is doing (not that he even knows)? Why would he draft a letter of resignation for Lane Kiffen after one year when he doubled the team's win total with less talent on the team? I don't get it lol |

Al Davis has never made any sense to me. A new coach bringing in a new system is obviously going to take time to adjust and get his personel in, but rotating coaches in and out like he does, he is going to end up screwing the team up for a longer period of time then just sitting through a losing season or two and letting a coach put his system in place. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

Agreed on Davis. As much as I'm arguing with Enrage on his thread about continuity, I can't see any way a team can be good if they have new coaches every year or two. It isn't just about that, but it is surely partly about that.
As for London, it is a good marketing move for the NFL. I heard PA state on the radio that he's heard the trip isn't much fun for anyone, but hey, it is a job after all and that is a business trip.
In other NFL news, what is going on in DC? _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

Another situation where the owner has too much time on his hands and too little clue. When a team makes the playoffs and the coach leaves, promote from within in order to keep the team from changing as much. But Snyder is going to want to make his mark on the team again, like signing old free agents to huge contracts isn't enough. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

Rumors are that Pete Carrol is in town, and that Snyder will also be meeting with Steve Marriucci(sp).

My theory, still, is that Davis is suffering from the early onsets of Altimers are is getting Calaghan, Turner, Shell, and Kiffin mumbled together as one coach. _________________

don't look now, but poor Daunte is brown-nosing to return to Miami...
Daunte Culpepper: ''I live here, and I love [Bill Parcells],'' Culpepper said Tuesday at Alonzo Mourning's charity event. "And I'm healthy now.''
http://www.miamiherald.com/614/story/395174.html
talk about a guy who was never put in front of a man who could mentor him:
no father or grandfather
UCF coaches (hey, maybe they're top notch, but i doubt it...)
Denny Green (remind me again of all the qb's he's developed...)
Mike Tice (coddled him...)
fired his agent and represents himself now
Mike Saban (in and out in a year...)
Oakland's Kiffin (not exactly a rock of a presence...)
now begging to Parcells. who has always had a record of using bright, decisive qb's. _________________

I saw that quote of Daunte's yesterday. Nice analysis, VD. _________________

So what are you trying to say about Daunte Culpepper then? _________________

That he's dumb. C'm on Steve!
It's not like Daunte was a rhodes scholar. He had a reputation for not being able to pick things up very fast. When you act as your own agent, and then only communcate through email? Something's missing. _________________

what others have said about Daunte, that i agree with, is that he is not overly bright, nor has made good decisions for his career.
what i am saying, is that he has also had the misfortune of never having a male authority figure in front of him that he could really learn much from or use as a role model to better himself.
not that that excuses his behavior and decisions, but if he wasn't very, very wealthy, we'd be watching a real tragedy here. _________________

Yes...that is true. I actually read something about how he had to put in alot more time at school at UCF, with his coaches, because of bad grades. I've seen him play before too (05 season more than ever, as in I looked into him as a QB alot more than what I did his previous years, even though he got hurt) and sometimes it wasn't all pretty. Maybe its through intelligence as a QB, or maybe there is something wrong, but no matter what, this is what I have to say about him:
Daunte Culpepper will always be my favorite QB of all time. _________________

Steve, if i may, as you have a few years ahead of you still...
perhaps see Daunte as your favorite qb so far. but you have no idea who is out there, even literally not born yet, that may supplant him in your rankings and admiration. _________________

No, it doesn't matter what other QB is out there. Daunte Culpepper will always be my boy. No one else will replace him, as you may seem to think. I love Daunte Culpepper, and I think he's awesome, and Ill follow where-ever he goes. He is numero uno. I'm a die hard fan for the guy (It would'nt be all that bad for me if Daunte went back to Miami, because I still have his jersey.) _________________

The problem with the organization goes beyond Al Davis. No one else in the ownership group has had the cajones to stand up to Al Davis and the one that did ended up selling his portion to Al Davis, because he lost in a lawsuit to try to oust Al Davis, but none of the other partners would join the suit. Now Al Davis holds majority stake in the Raiders and no one can stop him from himself. Someone he trusts (if there is anyone out there) needs to intervene and tell him that if he truly loves the Raiders, he should step down, because right now he's only hurting them. _________________
