Rumor has it James Davis the Junior RB from Clemson has decided to enter the NFL Draft. I personnally feel this is a mistake. He has great upside but with all the other RB's declaring, he could really fall. If he stays in school and has a big senior year, he could be a easy 1st rounder. What do you all think?

If he stays he would have to split carries with CJ Spiller so I think it's the right move to declare now. He may go a bit higher next year but not that much IMO.

Staying in school doesn't do much for an RB. You don't gain much beyond strength. A RB has pretty much established who he is by the end of his junior year and scouts have gathered as much as they ever will. So it comes down to testing for him and depth at RB.

In other words, the only thing that will hurt him is RB depth in the draft. He's just hedging his risks by committing early. Smart move.

He's a steal if he goes in the 3rd round. If he gets taken by someone who runs a ZBS, his career will be off to a great start. He hits the hole hard and has some pretty good speed as well.

Being a Clemson fan here is how I see this:

-I do feel James Davis is going to be a really good NFL RB. He is very strong in between the tackles and if you look at the other RBs this year, not many are as good as him between the tackles. I wouldn't mind one bit for the Pats to get him to compliment Maroney, but Davis will be a good NFL back. I also like it from a perspective of a Clemson fan. CJ Spiller has been waiting for the opportunity to blow up numbers-wise and now he will be able to do that.

-I'm obviously mad though because Davis is a great back and with him and Spiller, the Tigers would have been easy favorites in the ACC.

Wow, this is quite possibly the deepest RB class ever. I feel really bad for good running backs like Tashard Choice and Michael Hart, both of whom could fall to the 6th round or even later.

Yeah it's hard to make a top 5 wiht McFadden, Mendenhall, Davis, Smith, Stewart, Slaton, Hart, Jones. I mean this class is loaded especially at the top.

As for Aaron Kelly, he has returned I believe.

just ok. decent speed, a little undersize. i have him on my list all year but in watching him, doesnt look like an nfl stud. could be in round 2 but more likely 3-5, unless he goes out and tears up workouts but i just didnt see it.

Wouldn't it be funny if Darren McFadden and Jonathan Stewart stay in school? Laughing

all these juniors coming out is really helping teams that dont want to spend a 1st round pick on a RB. because aside from Run DMC, i dont see that great of a talent disparity from the #2 RB to about #6. so its great for the Bears who can actually grab a quality back like Davis, Mendenhall, or Matt Forte in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

they would both be idiots if they did, but they wont. a few of stewarts teammates have already stated as such and a player who avoids the question with elite talent is just waiting. stewarts probably waiting for the time with the least fanfare, while he who must not be named probably wants a time where the spotlight will be on him most so he can call a huge press confrence
