Has anyone thought of the possibility of taking Davis in the first round at FS and Shazor in the 2nd as SS. Think of the possibilities of that big, young secondary. It's like having 2 extra linebackers in. Now i know that people knock Davis and Shazor for their pass coverage. But all that is are tendencies. It's not like they don't have the speed or athletic ability to cover. If they didn't, they'd gain 20 and play LB. An NFL coaching staff can correct those bad tendencies as easy as putting them through training camp.

that would be nice, although i believe it wouldnt imediatly improve our secondary, it would be more growing pains for our D. However, we have a young team as it is, and in a few years it would be a sick combo.

also, isnt daivs a SS also? we would have to have him slim down a bit, isnt he like 6'1" 230?

nah davis plays FS which makes it work. a lot of people think he would fit in better at SS but he has the speed and athleticism to be a NFL FS. When combine time comes around you'll see his speed. Whats wrong with him is nothing a little good coaching cant fix. Hes been moved from linebacker to saftey so he doesnt have a real good feel for it yet.

different sites have them timed differently. seeing them both play, Davis has better pure foot speed and closing speed. Not saying shazors much slower but he is by a little. also, shazors tall build suits him a little better at ss. but can u imagine those 2 in the same secondary???

well i say we pull a cleveland 04 and trade with Sandiego for their 12 pick and second round, and pull a KC and trade back into first for a 5th round and that 2nd round acquistion and get a first so we draft erasmus and shazor and possibly switch to 3-4 maybe....

------James----------------------Rogers----------------------James
---Lehman-----------Bailey----------------Lewis------------------Holmes
Bly--------------------------------------------------------------------------Bryant
----------------------Shazor------------Holt------------------------
Positions may be mixed up

id love a switch to the 3-4 but i dont beleive shaun rogers has the bulk to handle the double teams and to put more pounds on him would be a waste of his somewhat rare speed on a DT

also if we did switch to the 3-4 we'd have to change the line backers more like this

james---------rogers----------hall
bailey----holmes-----lehman-----davis
------shazor-------------holt/davis---------

this is what our draft should be like:
we trade down for an extra second
1st: davis
2nd:shazor
2nd: roddy white
3rd:swancutt
4th: Marcus Lawrence
5th: Rian Wallace
6th: Derek Anderson
7th: best athlete left

then we switch to 3-4 with our 2 big saftys blitzing like crazy and it looks a little something like this:

swancutt-------rogers--------hall
bailey----holmes-----lawrence-----wallace
-----shazor--------------davis-------------

yeah now thats a defense

while the Davis/Shazor combo would be exciting, I think there are other needs we need to address so spending two high picks on safeties probably won't happen. Also, I don't see Lawrence or Wallace beating out Lehman or Lewis, and probably not Davis for that matter.

Two rookie safeties wouldnt be good for next year but you could have two stars back there though. I like the idea but i doubt it will happen.
