Corey Simon was a player that fit the eagles scheme perfectly. The stats he had put up in the past are inflated because of the defense he played on. He can contribute, but he is not disciplined with his weight and IMO won't succeed anywhere he plays.

It's as simple as this...Corey Simon was a stud DT while he was with the Eagles. After he left the Eagles and their defensive schemes, his production slipped quite a bit. However, the Colts have not really been known as a very productive defense. Simon's slipped production may or may not have been a result of poor defensive play from the Colts and the fact that they are a high octane, quick strike offense which could have resulted in the Colts D wearing down late in games (which is why they play as a small, quick, well-conditioned team).

Corey only played in 13 games the 1st season and missed the entire 2nd season with the Colts. He is a bit out of football shape and will most likely take a few weeks to get back into game form. Once he gets there, the Titans will see exactly what Simon will be able to provide. The upside is that he comes in and teams up with Albert Haynesworth (who will be takingmost of the double teams) and allow Corey Simon to do what he did best in Philadelphia...destroy the OL and make plays in the backfield. And if not, Simon at the least will be able to come in and provide the Titans with a solid DT rotation.

And besides, his contract is only a 1 year deal worth around $760,000. Its a high reward/low risk deal that is well worth taking. Especially since Antonio Johnson ('06 6th round DT) went on IR and Rien Long ('03 4th round DT) had to undergo more surgery on his bum knee. Corey Simon's circumstance couldn't have come at a better time for the Titans.
