I think they should definitely give Smoker every shot to win the job as number 2 QB.

Martin will always be a solid, but unspectacular journeyman and that just isn't good enough for this offense.

I am not saying anything other than why isnt Fitzpatrick an option??? Martz loves this guy and I wouldnt be surprised if he is the number 2 QB at the start of the season.

No matter how much Martz likes Fitzpatrick, he won't let a 7th round rookie start the season as the #2 QB. The very best Fitzpatrick will be when the season begins is the #3. He does have a shot at beating out whoever the #2 is as the season goes on.

I think they should start the season like this.

1. Bulger
2. Smoker
3. Fitzpatrick

Jamie Martin has never really done much when given a chance to play. Let the young guys get their chance. Smoker was a first day talent with UDFA off the field problems. He can get the job done if he wants to.

yah chandler had run his course as an NFL QB...time to let Smoker prove why scouts were so high on him at one time...Fitzpatrick will need timet o develop which is fine but no way he'd be ready to start an NFL game today if necessary so Smoker or Martin will win the #2 job but I'm hoping for Smoker.

With Fitzpatrick's better than expected performance at mini-camp, the Rams are in a bit of a quandry.

Normally a QB selected in the 7th round could at best hope for a spot on the practice squad.

However, right now I can't see the Rams doing that with Fitzpatrick because of the chance of losing him to another team.

So the question now is do they keep 4 QBs on the roster so they have a veteran back up or do they kick Jamie Martin to the curb?

Halradio, i didn't even think of that. I know Martz doesn't want to lose Fitzpatrick, so he'll more than likely find a roster spot for him.

In my opinion, everything hinges on how well Smoker does in training camp and the pre-season.

If he proves he can hack it as the number 2 guy, then its a no-brainer to let Martin go.

However, if Smoker starts looking like the second coming of Joey Germaine, then the Rams have some hard decisions to make.
