Hey everyone, I figured a cool way to get things jump-started with activity as we're eventually making the switch to the awesome, more cooler version of FF (Which can be found at Our new forum Wink ) would be to start a Series of some of the GREATEST in our franchise.

What do I mean by that? Well, let's take a look!

How about the Greatest Moments?
How about the Greatest Games?
How about the Greatest Plays?
How about the Greatest People (or Most Valuable, if you will)
How about the Greatest Roster Moves? (Trades, FA Signings, Draft Picks).

I figured we could do the following with each topic.

First would be a voting process. We'll start with #1 for each topic (Since it's easier to pick the best to the "worst") and go to say, #25?
Second, we could take volunteers to do some solid write-ups about everything in each topic.
Lastly, we'll group them all together in one big mega-thread for each Topic; then one ginormous Directory in the new forum.

What this can do, is allow others to come into our forum and read about history of the franchise. We could have new fans of the sport in general coming to FF at some point, so what better way than to give them a detailed encyclopedia about the greatest team in the sport Wink

What do you say guys? Sound like a fun idea?

sc29, I like the idea. Think it would be cool to chronicle the history of the franchise in that way.

Here are a couple of thoughts about it:

Maybe wait until everyone has transitioned to the new forum. Cause, this place is dead, anyway. (who gets the reference?)

Also, it's a bit too general. If we can focus on one topic at a time and maybe include a poll to vote on different ones you might get better participation.

Having said that, I'll throw out a couple, by no means comprehensive:

Greatest moment:

-Finally winning another SB in 2005 after an improbable playoff run and a 25 year drought.

(Footnote: I was at that AFC Championship game and I had the feeling that we would get to the mountaintop when they won that)

-Of course, the Immaculate Reception in 1972

-Speaking of miracles, James Harrison's return in SB XLIII against the Cardinals turned the tide on that game and was a hell of a spectacle.

-Personal Fav: Jack Lambert ragdolling Cliff Harris in SB X after he patted Roy Gerela on the head following a missed field goal

Greatest Game:

Last year's AFC Divisional playoff game against KC was a modern classic.

-Historically: Super Bowl IX, of course, because it ended the lovable loser reputation of the franchise. Set the stage for a unprecedented SB run in the 1970s.

-Super Bowl XLIII took a couple years off my life. Santonio's toe tap after Ben's perfect toss in the 4th quarter was ridiculous, iconic.

-Hell, all the Super Bowls for that matter.

Greatest people:

-Look no further than the owners and the Coaches over the last 48 years: Art Rooney Sr., Dan Rooney, Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, Mike Tomlin. HM Bill Nunn There are many, many, many others.

Greatest Roster Moves:

-1974 draft class, Jerome Bettis, James Farrior. Trading up for Polamalu. Mean Joe Greene as the cornerstone.

Just scratching the surface. Who you got?

2 moments that stick out for me...(1) The Bus' goaline fumble in the Playoff against the Colts and Ben's game-saving shoestring tackle. I darn near had a heart attack. And (2) Santonio Holmes' tippy-toe game-winning TD catch. Amazing!

Definitely the most crazy game of my lifetime. The dominating start against the best team in the NFL... the great interception to seal the game overturned by an AWFUL call... the comeback ended with our great D.... to 1st and goal..... that fumble and tackle.... and one of the best clutch kickers missing the tying FG....

Exhausted just thinking about it.

I would think the fumble, shoe-string tackle and missed FG could all count as one moment.

Especially when you consider why Ben was even able to make the shoe-string tackle.

I had actually forgotten about this part. By far the craziest game I've witnessed. The look on Jerome's face when he fumbled was like Ralphie from A Christmas Story...."Ohhhhh,Fuuuudge..."

That would have been a terrible ending to Bettis' career. That look on his face said it all. Thank God Ben made the play.

That was a crazy game and one of the most memorable for sure.
