2034 NBA Draft

Draft Picks

Round 1 – 11
Round 1 – 12
Round 1 – 19

I’m just looking for value at any position in this draft. A talented PF would be preferable but I’m not going to force it.

The top 5 goes like this: Hawks select C Cory Montgomery (88), Spurs select SF Uwe Lindemann (81), Nets select PG Mac Bradshaw (77), Magic select PG Brian Lucas (77), & the Raptors select C Travis Goodman (78). Time to sim to my pick.

Here’s the top players available at 11:

PF Dennis McCloud – 6’8” 236 lbs (6’10” WS), Providence – DE Rank #9 – 68 OVR with A- potential. McCloud is an undersized 4 that can’t shoot. So right there he sounds like a terrible prospect. But then you look at what he can do. He’s a decent rebounder and interior defender (he has the highest Block rating in the draft at 98). He also has a 98 Speed rating, at PF. Now his ACC is only 45, but his lateral quickness is 73 which is solid. He also has the highest potential rating left in the draft. He has the Chase Down Artist and Rim Protector badges. If I could just teach him to shoot he’d be a star.

SF Shannon Daley – 6’9” 235 lbs (7’3” WS), USC – DE Rank #10 – 71 OVR with B potential. Great size for a wing, and the best shooter left within the top 20 talents. He’s not a good defender, and his 58 SPD, 80 ACC, 87 lateral quickness isn’t ideal. He has the Corner Specialist, Limitless Range, and Pick & Popper badges.

PG Harold Edwards – 6’1” 196 lbs (6’7” WS), NCST – DE Rank #15 – 69 OVR with B- potential. Edwards is very raw, but he’s fast. He’s the best athlete in the draft with 99 SPD, 86 ACC and 86 lateral quickness. Despite his 69 OVR rating I don’t think he’d be ready to contribute anytime soon as he’s not really good at anything. He has the Difficult Shots and Pick & Roll Maestro badges.

I came into this draft looking for a PF talent, so I can’t not take McCloud here despite his size. Its between the other 2 for the 12th pick. I already have a backup SF that shoots better than Daley does, and Price is more athletic too. I rarely see the type of athletes that Edwards is still available outside of the Top 10, so I don’t see how I can pass him up.

With the 11th pick in the NBA Draft the LA Clippers select:

PF Dennis McCloud – 6’8” 236 lbs (6’10” WS), Providence – DE Rank #9 – 68 OVR with A- potential.
I’m not in love with his size or his lack of shooting, but this pick is all upside.

With the 12th pick in the NBA Draft the LA Clippers select:

PG Harold Edwards – 6’1” 196 lbs (6’7” WS), NCST – DE Rank #15 – 69 OVR with B- potential.
I already have a bunch of PGs on the roster but Edwards is so raw he will have to sit for awhile.

Time to sim to my next pick.

Alright lets see who’s available here at 19:

C Denis Kozlov – 7’0” 262 lbs (7’9” WS), Ukraine – DE Rank #7 – 71 OVR with B potential. Ok I didn’t even mention this guy before because he’s not that special, but at 19 you gotta give the #7 DE ranked player some consideration. He’s a weird prospect. He has good size, but he’s a terrible rebounder. His best attributes are weirdly as a perimeter defender. He’s solid athletically, but he has no badges.

Honestly looking through the remaining prospects there’s no one else really worth taking here. I don’t really need another Center prospect but Kozlov will need a lot of time to groom.

With the 19th pick in the NBA Draft the LA Clippers select:

C Denis Kozlov – 7’0” 262 lbs (7’9” WS), Ukraine – DE Rank #7 – 71 OVR with B potential.
I’ll have to immediate target improving his rebounding and interior defense if he’s ever going to become anything.

Another draft done. All 3 prospects are pretty raw, I’m not sure any will contribute this year.

Team Options

SG Harvey Holland (80) - $3.20 mil - tendered – My starting SG for now, although Don Howard is nipping at his heels.

PF Wil Stinson (76) - $1.71 mil – tendered – Good defender and rebounder. He may have to start this year.

C Hugh Hoffman (74) - $1.71 mil – not tendered – Stretch 5 that can’t play defense. I know I need shooting, but I can’t have the paint unprotected. I’m not bring him back.

PG Edward Wilkes (74) - $2.47 mil – tendered – My starting PG.

PF Cliff Warren (70) - $3.15 – tendered – He hasn’t progressed at all in 3 years since I moved him to PF. He’s a talented scored but not much else. Very injury prone too. Still, I need scorers.

Team Free Agents

PF Gene Garrett (78) – no offer – This sucks Gene. I wanted you to retire. I gotta get my young guys minutes so I’m letting him go.

SG Don Howard (77) – 4-year $30 mil offer – According to the main NBA Roster screen he has the highest Potential rating of any player in the league right now.

C Reginald Curtis (74) – no offer – He gave me what I needed in the playoffs last year but one of my young guys should be able to take over this year.

Free Agency

I’m building through the roster so I won’t be targeting high profile free agents.

*SG Don Howard Left to sign a 4-year $37.95 mil deal with the Phoenix Suns. Bummer.

SF Sylvester Seymour (70) signed to a 1-year $2.00 mil deal. #7 pick just two years ago. Great shooter.

Major Contract Signings:
PG Harold Jordan – Timberwolves – 4 years, $109.01 mil
C Archie Person – Heat – 4 years, $127.94 mil
C Stephen Wall – Thunder – 4 years, $116.89 mil
C Joshua Dunn – Thunder – 4 years, $105.05 mil (They need two $100+ mil Centers?)
C Bobby Nicholson – Pelicans - $87.43 mil (underpaid, trust me I know from experience)

*TRADE*

Miami Heat Receive
PG Jevon Stone (74)

LA Clippers Receive
2035 Heat First Round Pick (top 5 protected)
PF Marcel Girbaud (74)

Stone just wasn’t productive when I used him last year, and Paxson was more effective. Plus rookie PG Edwards is the long term plan now, so no reason to keep Stone. Girbaud is on an expiring contract and will be cut.

Free Agent Signing

C Clifton Fuller (66) was signed – 1-year deal, $1.52 mil - Raw prospect with upside.

Opening Day Roster – Year 19

PG – Edward Wilkes (76 OVR) – 28 min
SG – Harvey Holland (82 OVR) – 30 min
SF – Ellis Murray (82 OVR) – 32 min
PF – Wil Stinson (78 OVR) – 28 min
C – Marcus Byars (82 OVR) – 36 min

6th Man, SF – Tommy Price (78 OVR) – 24 min
7, SF – Marshall Nash (78 OVR) – 20 min
8, PG – Jay Paxson (75 OVR) – 16 min
9, C – Denis Kozlov (73 OVR) – 14 min
10, PF – Dennis McCloud (70 OVR) – 12 min
11, SF – Sylvester Seymour (73 OVR) –0 min
12, C – James Keefe (71 OVR) – 0 min
13, PF – Cliff Warren (72 OVR) – 0 min
Inactive, PF Harold Edwards (70 OVR) – 0 min
Inactive, C Clifton Fuller (69 OVR) – 0 min

I’m going to move Stinson into the starting lineup since he’s the best all around PF I have on the roster right now. Warren is a terrific scorer but hasn’t progressed otherwise. This is probably his last season with me. Price is taking over the 6th man role, and rookie Center Kozlov will get minutes as the primary backup at the 5.

*Major Injury*

PF Wil Stinson torn a ligament in his hand and is out 2-4 months. I’m going to give Cliff Warren another chance and let him start in his place.

Contract Extension

SG Harvey Holland has signed a 3-year, $48 mil contract extension with the Clippers. He’s not dynamic, but he’s a decent shooter with decent athleticism. I think he needs more time, he’s still developing.

Contract Extension

PG Edward Wilkes has signed a 3-year, $36.0 mil contract extension with the Clippers. Wilkes has developed into a solid starter. This contract will keep him around for several more years while I develop Edwards.

Crazy to me that a 72 overall was scoring 23ppg. Was he a pylon on defense?

He's a weird prospect. I drafted him as a SF, but he had 6'8" 220 lb size with a 7'3" wingspan. I can't remember his exact SPD rating (I'm at work) but I know it was somewhere that it was too slow to be a quality SF but good enough that its an advantage for a PF. So since I converted him to PF, his rebounding and interior defense ratings were quite low. I was hoping they would develop over time, but he keeps getting injured over and over again, so he hasn't developed at all.

What he can do is score. He's got a pretty decent 3 point shot for a big (I think mid 80s) and he's a great low post scorer. He has 92 Strength, meaning he can pretty much back anyone down in the paint, and his SPD blows past slower defenders. I've used him a few times in my user games with some success but he's usually injured.

If he hadn't of gotten injured things might have been different, but now he's on the last year of his rookie deal and if he demands big money I'm going to have to let him walk.

I remember reading about him a few years ago, the 92 strength stood out.

I can't imagine him demanding HUGE money considering the rating, but I guess he has the stats to back up a pay day. I wouldn't pay someone who gets injured that much either

Top 10 Draft Prospects According to Draft Express

1. SF/SG – Hasan Basturk – 6’8” 228 lbs (7’3” Wingspan), Turkey, 82 OVR, A+ Potential
2. PG – Lyle Larson – 6’2” 179 lbs (6’8” WS), Mississippi, 78 OVR, B Potential
3. PG – Timmy Myers – 5’11” 173 lbs (6’0” WS), Pittsburgh, 75 OVR, A- Potential
4. SF/PF – Johnny Joseph – 6’8” 236 lbs (6’7” WS), Gonzaga, 79 OVR, B Potential
5. C – Gabe Sheridan – 7’0” 263 lbs (7’6” WS), Maryland, 78 OVR, B Potential
6. SG – Kurt Madsen– 6’5” 222 lbs (6’4” WS), Maryland, 73 OVR, A- Potential
7. SG– Ernest Grady – 6’5” 194 lbs (6’8” WS), Kansas, 72 OVR, B- Potential
8. C – Lu Cherry – 7’1” 278 lbs (7’4” WS), China, 71 OVR, B Potential
9. C – Ronnie Gibbs – 7’0” 275 lbs (7’4” WS), Alabama, 71 OVR, B Potential
10. SF – Abe Little – 6’9” 255 lbs (6’11” WS), Alabama, 72 OVR, B- Potential

Pretty weak looking class IMO. A couple of decent sized Centers (which I don’t need) and most of the other guys are undersized. Basturk does look like a stud but otherwise pretty weak.

All Star Break Update

I’m currently 33-24, or 6th in the West. I’m doing ok with my season record. PF Stinson has been injured and I thought about dumping him at the trade deadline, but I might need his inside defense come playoff time. So I’m going to stay with what I have at the deadline this year.

It's funny that you're posting the top 10 prospects in the draft and you can't even pick in the top 10 lol
