Interim GM Marty Hurney immediately got to work on what had been one of ex-GM Dave Gettleman's goals. Financial details are not yet available, though the guard market has exploded in recent seasons. The No. 92 overall pick of the 2014 draft, Turner has turned in back-to-back Pro Bowl campaigns, though Pro Football Focus charted him as having a down 2016. He dealt with both knee and ankle injuries last season. Turner turned 24 in June.


This happened real fast...which means we probably overpaid.

4 year deal worth $45M including $20.5M guaranteed.

4 year $45M. $20.5M guaranteed.

The two top paid guards in the NFL today are Osemele ($11.7M/yr at $25.4M guaranteed) and Zeitler ($12M/yr at $23M guaranteed.)

This makes Turner the league's third-highest paid guard at $12M/yr and $20.5M guaranteed.

I'd say that this is a good deal for the team because Turner has OT ability, playing some RT down the stretch for us last year. Definitely not bargain price, but certainly fair, if not slightly below what he's worth. I'm satisfied.
