Chiefs cut P Will Monday (that should make sure Colquitt stays) and Safety Marqueston Huff.

They signed S Steven Terrell and ILB Josh Mauga.Yes, Josh Mauga.

It's a weird move after they released him earlier this year, taking 750k$ in dead money. I need to check his contract details, but may be they got a better deal after all? Doesn't look like he had a hot market so far.

just checked: Chiefs saved 3 M$ in cap releasing him ... I have a hard time to believe he'll make anywhere close to that after signing this deep in pre-season.

On verra ...

I like Josh Mauga. But I kinda don't like the signing. It's hard to develop/evaluate the young guys that we have if we don't give them playing time.

Pleased about the Mauga resigning. While in an ideal world he won't have to see a snap or actually even make the roster, because DJ is healthy and Wilson and March both step up, those are things we can't fully rely on, and we can't put ourselves in the situation we were in last year. If Mauga can play at a 2014/2015 level, I'm suddenly much more comfortable with our ILB position. That allows us to survive a DJ injury, or Wilson not being ready, or Eligwe needing to hit the PS.

A bit surprised about Monday. I thought having him might be a move to prep for moving on from Colquitt. Perhaps he disappointed.

No reason to move on from Colquitt...the frakkin Maclin fiasco took care of all that for any other potential cap moves.

Josh Mauga. Is he the smoke or the mirror in our ILB defense ?

Hopefully the little used depth.

Only thing wrong with Mauga is he's injury-prone and said injuries have sapped his athleticism.

Still, he's an instinctual player and an expert at Sutton defenses. We've got a lot of young blood in this area of the defense so he'll be good competition.
