I know he's only in his 3rd year so we have to wait on his contract, but the guy is on track to becoming the best corner in football. Dedication, swagger, mentality, interceptions, interceptions, interceptions.

However the guy is an Oakland native and was a Raider fan his whole life. I feel chances are he might leave even when the Raiders move to Vegas....

We'll need to lock him up next offseason, due to the new CBA you have to wait till after the 3rd year.

He may leave, he may not. If he does, it will not be because of the Raiders. They'll be too busy paying their own guys by that point to invest in a guy as expensive as Peters will be. He'll hit the same offseason they have to pay Cooper, and they'll already have Mack, Carr, and Jackson on the payroll as high earners at that point. This won't be the same Raider cap situation that let them go over the top of us on Sean Smith and Rodney Hudson. They'll have room, but they won't have $15M per year to throw around to a single outside acquisition.

But regarding Peters anyway, we won't really have to look at this at all for another two years. We'll unquestionably exercise the 5th year option, so he effectively has 3 years left on his deal right now. Won't need to worry about an extension until the 2019 offseason. And that's assuming whatever new GM we get works ahead a bit more than Dorsey did. If we handle Peters as we've handled recent extensions, we actually wouldn't be worrying about it until the 2020 offseason, given the option of the franchise tag. Either way, by the time this becomes a pressing matter, we'll have seen a pretty substantial amount of roster turnover and change in our cap situation, so it's a little early to look at this one.

Our cap situation after 2018 is pretty good. We'll have the money. Hopefully he chooses to stay. With the Raiders going to LV, it'll help our case.

How serious does Peters perceive the Chiefs are at creating a potentiall SB winner?
The front office inner workings raise questions.

And afterall, KC still hasn't got a legit CB starter across from him. We didn't even draft help in a very strong CB class in May. Our ILB situation is still a mess. Questions abound at RB, QB, and WR.

Peters will stay if the Chiefs can satisfactorilly tackle these issues.
