At this point, I'd keep him on the bench every day and not let him play. It really is a - move by him.

For the record, I'm assuming it's his agent that is leaking this stuff. Not him. There was a strong rumor a while back that Mintz (Paul George's agent) was orchestrating to move George with a pair of his clients (D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle).

They'd have to get a 3rd team in that would presumably take Love. Butler makes more sense in this scenario because he's under contract for multiple years.

Still don't think they have enough to get it done.

I think we can all agree that the Cavs are short on assets that a rebuilding team would want in a Butler trade, right? So why would a team give up those rebuilding assets for Kevin Love, and not Jimmy Butler? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

EDIT: Amended this to include Brooklyn...

I dunno. Just spitballing...

Cavs receive:
GF Jimmy Butler
C Robin Lopez

Bulls receive:
SG Iman Shumpert
G Spencer Dinwiddie
PF Trevor Booker
PG Kay Felder
PF Noah Vonleh
#15 Overall Pick
#20 Overall Pick

Blazers receive:
SG JR Smith
PF Channing Frye
MIN/LAL 2019 2nd Round Pick via CLE
POR 2020 2nd Round Pick via CLE

Nets receive:
SG Allen Crabbe

Portland sends the 2017 picks to get out from under Crabbe's contract?

That would probably be a dream situation for Cleveland, being able to move on from both Shumpert and JR's contracts... Not to mention not giving up Love or Irving...

He is fully intending to sign with the Lakers in free agency next summer without them giving up substantial assets.

You can listen to what Woj said here.
Holy crap. He's really screwing them over big time. What a prick.

How dare he properly utilize free agency and not trick teams into getting screwed over

Cavs trying to acquire Jimmy Butler in multi team trade...

lol if the Bulls take Kevin Love for Jimmy Butler...just lol

I think that if it were Butler for Love it wouldn't be a multi team trade

I just find the whole rumor to be bogus. Doesn't pass the common sense test. I'm sure Cleveland is trying to find a 3 or 4 team deal that would land them Butler, but that's not happening.

Properly utilize free agency? He's not a free agent until 2018 and he's making extreme specific demands. Saying stuff like, "I'm not re-signing with any team, no matter what. I'm only signing with the Lakers."

That puts the Pacers in such an awkward spot because some teams will hesitate to trade for George because it's a massive risk. I give up assets for him and he leaves in a year. Or, teams will just low-ball the crap out of the Pacers because he's just a 1 year rental.

Sounds like you had a statement predetermined, but it doesn't fit here. This isn't about free agency, it's a trade.

This is the Pacers own fault. It's insane teams having learned by now that if there is even a tiny bit of doubt that a player is going to re-sign you need to trade him with two years left on his deal. You lose everything if you let it get down to one year. Indiana should have done some serious homework last off-season and made moves accordingly. Too late now.

Yeah, I feel bad for Pacers fans.

But, this is the best result for the Lakers.
If he really said that, then honestly, I don't see how he doesn't play for the Lakers this upcoming season. Not sure how he could play any team with other teammates that know he doesn't want to be there. Those are really awkward comments to make especially since we're talking about 2018.

Lakers should offer Nick Young and a 2nd round pick so that George can come right now lol
Pacers should trade him to the Nets or the Kings to just spite him
Agreed. Send him to a dumpster fire.

I mean you need to not only look at the team you send him to, but also the city. Sending him to Sacramento gets him closer to LA where he wants to be as it is, no bueno. With the Nets you still sending him to Brooklyn/New York area so no bueno. Send him to Toronto. Sure he might be on a better team, but he has to live in Canada...

Sacramento is still California baby fun and sun we'll always have that lol

People act like players don't talk, or that they don't know what's going on around the league. Do you truly believe that Paul George doesn't recognize what happened with Carmelo Anthony when he orchestrated his trade to New York? The last thing that Paul George wants is that. He believes he can resurrect the Lakers, but he knows he needs help doing so.

But props to PG for following his heart at the expense of money and winning

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ya5cu6lb

And then the Bulls get the #4 pick. And maybe we throw in the Cavs 1st or the second Miami 1st we have.

And the Pacers get Miami's pick next year, Suns pick next year, and maybe we'll throw in the Cavs or Miami pick whenever those ones are.

Suns get Butler and PG13. And I think we would have enough cap to sign a decent player (potentially a max or close to it??).

That might actually be a worse trade for Paul George than the one Lakers would likely be willing to give up (Clarkson/2Cool.
