So looking forward a bit, and just trying to find a path with our 1st Base issue. We all know that sooner or later (hopefully sooner) Yadi is going to have to start taking games at 1B in order to get Carson Kelly behind the plate on the Major League level. I cant see us actually just having him as the backup Catcher where he gets like 30-40 games in a season. If he is coming up, he has to be getting 80+ starts behind the plate, in a true time share. Which means Yadi is going to have to get 70-90 games at 1B (depending on the total he has at C).

It's definitely something that has been on my mind, and eventually means either move Carp moves to left field or he gets dealt. Molina has gotten roughly 140 GP in average year, and I'd venture to say the Cardinals would prefer to cut that down roughly 20 or so GP if they had the option. The bigger issues is the innings logged, which in an average year are roughly 1500 innings. Last year, he had over 1200. If they dropped him to 1100 innings behind the plate, that's less than 6 games. If they drop him to 1000 innings, that's almost 17 games. If you drop him to 800 innings, that's almost 40 games. Obviously, he'd get innings elsewhere namely 1B and DH. And the Cardinals don't have an obvious DH option on the roster now that Matt Holliday is gone from St. Louis.

I'd imagine that Carson Kelly spends the entire year in Memphis this year. No real reason to burn an option and give him consistent AB. Next year, he's the "backup" getting roughly 40 starts. And the following year, he's the "co-starter" with Molina before taking over for good in 2020.

You're probably right Cwood, I just wish they would let Kelly jump in faster than that plan.

This is why I'm starting to believe Carson Kelly won't be a part of this organization in the near future. I just can't see them moving Yadi to first base.
And I have an even more hard time believing that Mo would be moving Kelly. The value you would have to get in return for 6 controllable years of the Top Catching prospect in baseball is astronomical.

I know you really like Yealich, and want a middle order of the bat, but getting fair value for Kelly would be very hard.

If we are going to make a move, its gotta be with the next 7 games. 3 @ the Phillies, then 4 at home vs the Pirates (3) and Reds (1) who are all teams floating around the same area we are right now.

Because if we dont get on a bit of a streak here (and go only 4-3) we follow that up with 6 games against 2 of the best 5 teams in baseball (ARZ and WAS) and could be limping into the All Star Break.

Dude has been a stud for us this year. Sucks he's 29 and not 25.

Love it! First Cardinal ever to accomplish that feat, and 14th in MLB history!

It's time to end the Michael Wacha as a starter era. He needs to move to the late innings...

We've seen enough numbers to support he's great 1st time thru the order, but by the 3rd time through hitters have an AVERAGE OPS of over .900 against him...

Even more alarming is that he's only recorded an out in the 7th inning in 7 of his last 37 starts. Yikes...

What happened to Siegrist's velocity? He was lethal when he first came up touching 96-97 mph. Now he's between 91-93. Today it was consistently at 91.

Within fine print of #Cardinals signings today was a deal for Ga. slugger Terry Fuller (15th round). He received a $200,000 bonus. #MLBDraft

Some good news here.

He was rode into the ground by Matheny over a 3 year period. Just couldn't hold up and has never recovered. His velocity dipped every year and he started getting injuries...
