So with signing AP, does this indicate we'll steer clear of a RB in round 1?

I still think McCaffrey is an option, but he's just as much a WR as RB in our scheme.

Never underestimate the greediness of Sean Payton.

I still hope we take McCaffery, and maybe try him out at slot receiver as well as the usual dual threat back. I think he's way too good to leave on the board if he's available, and I think the synergy with our offense is nearly perfect for him.

I hope AP dominates, but he's likely to be Hightoweresque, which I'm also fine with.

I firmly, 100% believe in BPA regardless of need (with the notable exception of positions where the backups don't play, such as QB). If McCaffery is the best on the board, take him. Or if you think he's BPA but not by much and you have your eye on a defensive player try and trade down a couple of spots. Don't just stay at 11 and draft a player clearly not BPA though.

I don't know where my head has been, but I am only just realizing we got mike Nolan as the LB coach. Gives me some hope for the middle men of the defense Laughing Can't wait to see who turns up as starters.

I forgot about that. More than likely it'll be Robertson/Klein/Ellerbe maybe Anzalone

From Rotoworld:

Quote:
New Saints LBs coach Mike Nolan said he is "excited about" 2015 first-round LB Stephone Anthony.

Anthony fell deep into the doghouse last season, playing just 133 snaps after seeing 990 as a rookie. Nolan's arrival appears to have wiped the slate clean. "I've gotten to know Anthony on a personal level, as well as a football level in meetings, I like him," Nolan said. "Looking at tape of him, whether it was last year against Tampa Bay where he played the entire football game, whether it was the year before, he made a lot of plays." Nolan added he thinks Anthony is best suited to play inside. The Saints added both A.J. Klein and Manti Te'o, but they would probably prefer the former first-rounder earning the starting MLB job.

Now look what I quoted there. I'll be honest. This flat out makes me angry. Anthony looked great as a rookie. Yeah, there was room for improvement. But the kid balled out and made a ton of great plays for us his rookie year. So who's decision was it to move him outside where he could "thrive" last year? Because I trust Nolan's thoughts on LBs much more than Vitt's. We will see where this goes, but I would love to see him back in the middle where (at least I believe) he looked really good.

Yeah will be interesting to see how this plays out. I wouldn't even mind having payed Klein the 3/15 contract we did and him not start if it means Anthony earned the starting spot. The same amount of money would be going to the position regardless this year, just Anthony would make it a more talented starter.

Unfortunately, it won't be Nolan's decision. It will be up to Payton, maybe... just maybe the DC.

Joel A. Erickson‏Verified account @JoelAErickson
One-on-one coverage drills, LB vs. RB, is notoriously slanted towards the running back, but Anthony, Anzalone have had decent snaps
