OTAs begin in three days. I saw an article noting that PAt Mahomes would be attending. Huzzah. Sadly, no thread to add the information.

This is not going to be about who starts (much). That has already been decided, excepting a couple of injury situations. What is up for grabs are rotation and depth spots and special teams roles. The Chiefs are honing for a deep playoff run. Making this roster could be very nice on a resume.

Oh, I don't think the starting lineup has been set. LG, RB, OLB, ILB, CB2, WR2/3 are all open. But that will not remotely be decided in non-contact OTAs.

I think Houston and Ford are safe as starters. After that is a toss up.

From the mothership, Five Questions:
http://www.chiefs.com/news/article-2/Five-Storylines-to-Follow-During-Chiefs-OTAs/6bbd4e64-882f-4d7e-8f1d-365563964c4d

1. How do the rookies acclimate to the speed of these practices?
We won't know this for a while. That said there are three players to watch closely--Hunt, Chesson, Eligwe. Hunt should play a lot. Can he take over the lead RB role? Chesson has the size/speed factor of many first round WR. Is he over the nightmare of his 2016 season? Can Eligwe contribute this season? Having him in the rotation would do the depth a lot of help.

2. With Travis Kelce rehabbing, who steps up?
This is a good question. Kelce is a captain. None of the other TEs have shown much.

3. How does a deep and talented cornerback position shake out?
There is an old saying, "If you have three at a position, you really have none." We have three or four CB2.

Note that question #1 applies in spades when Tyreek Hill is lined up across.

4. What’s it look like at inside linebacker?
See question #1. Eligwe could be very useful here.

5. Where is Tyreek Hill going to line up?
Everywhere, of course. I think he drops for fewer kicks and spends a lot more time at WR. If he's running even a marginal route tree, he amps the offense a bunch. Pulling a CB and a S twenty yards downfield makes a lot of space for our screen passes.

Then what? Is Dadi Nicholas a functional role player in the pass rush? Does Zombo move inside? What does Victor Ochi bring, if anything?

Ochi got the slice about a day or 2 ago (i think it was; signed a LBer formally from Chargerville).

Edit: Tourek Williams signed

A lot will depend on if Nicholas is healthy. OLB is definitely a position that needs to be addressed next offseason. Zombo needs to be upgraded. Hali, from a business standpoint, I hope retires. Nicholas may not be the same. OLB is a potential weakness for sure.

For inside, I personally believe that we're good with DJ, Ramik, March-Lillard, Alexander, Smith, and Eligwe for competition.

That's a good saying for QB....but IF you have 3 at CB...well, you have 3. And that's a good thing.

Actually it's a RB saying. If you have three for any one role, none of them is filling the role properly.

The Chiefs added a new linebacker before the beginning of OTAs
The Kansas City Chiefs signed former Los Angeles Chargers outside linebacker Tourek Williams Monday afternoon...6 feet 4 and 262 pounds.

Here are four things to know about Williams:

1. Williams is entering his fifth NFL season
2. Williams had a knack for special teams
3. Williams had a standout college career
4. Williams comes from a powerhouse high school program ...Miami Norland High School in Florida, which is the same alma mater as former Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe.

http://www.chiefs.com/news/article-2/Four-Things-to-Know-About-New-OLB-Tourek-Williams/12ec85ff-bda6-465f-a7dd-ef60e4f58f5a

Not much to know yet. 6th rounder, #179. ST player will fit in well, though SD ST are not up to our standards. He was a sometimes starter last season in SD, those ere his first starts.

Chiefs released OLB Tourek Williams.
He lasted only four days in Kansas City after signing this week. A special teamer, Williams should resurface before minicamp.

Ooopps ...
