I agree this might not happen, but who is out there still?

G.Barnidge
T.Burton?
?

I can't find an updated list.

Slim pickens - Gary Barnidge might be too much like Jesse James

Maybe Larry Donnell?

Yea, he's real big and real slow.

B.Myers, meh
W.Saunders, nah

A trade is the only thing I can see, but I'd bet they just stick with
the guys they have if that's the case.

I'm going to google how to say "This team likes Jesse James" in every language in the world and post it because some of you don't get it.

Hahahahaha.

Jones' only chance is to go to Tenn. Otherwise he is flipping burgers this fall.

Liked him so much they have a $20 mill contract to another player at same position a little over a year ago.

Now maybe their views changed to an extent but isn't an outlier athlete and probably maxes out as a slightly above average starter.

How much they like him still doesn't excuse the fact they have very little behind him and passed on a very deep TE draft class and then 3 weeks later cut a starter if healthy.

Maybe there's another card to fall but as of now it isn't looking very good.

They signed him last year when Jesse was coming off of a mostly invisible rookie year. Then Jesse had a much better year 2, so it shows they trust him moving forwards.

JJ isn't a Seam Buster and we saw with Green (tho in a limited capacity) what that dimension adds to this team. It should have been on the draft radar.
Oh Bucky, what could have been.

I really think it was a response to Bryant being out. If Bryant is back for a sustainable amount of time, then a seam busting TE actually crowds things, and a tight end like JJ would help suck the LB's down.

James right now is late career Heath Miller...a tad better blocker but that's it.

Good hands but not a threat down the field.

A vertical threat makes the defense account for him with a S or their 3rd best CB.or their best cover LB which then frees up Bell.

A TE like Green is a much more dangerous threat than James, that should be clear.

I think it just depends on the play call. Having Bryant run a Post and the TE in the seam, that FS HAS to decide which to bracket. That just leaves it up to Ben to find the open Man. Add Bell out of the backfield, Brown all over the field and a possession guy like JJ/JuJu? Unstoppable!

I don't think the FO could scream it any louder.

Yes with Bryant back now a seam TE wouldn't help as much as you and others think it would. Bryant is going to carry safeties deep. James is going to make the LB's creep up. All the sudden those mid area's for Brown and possibly Juju can catch a crop ton of passes. Not to mention that Bell makes those LB's have to spread horizontally across the field.

I just think too much is being made of a "seam busting TE". We didn't have one for years and it never held us back. And now that they signed one and it didn't work out, it's suddenly something we absolutely need?
