I actually think it make more sense for him to be a NT in a 4-3 because of his height. Often in the Vikings' 4-3 schemes, the NTs were often not that big (probably because being stouter, they find it easier to gobble up blockers)

Tim Newton (Vikings NT in the late 80s) was 6'0"
Henry Thomas was 6'2"
Jerry Ball was 6'1"
Chris Hovan was 6'2"

Only recently have the NTs been fairly tall...Phat Pat was 6'3", Fred Evans was 6'5", and Linval is 6'4".

Comparing guys from those teams to this team doesn't make a ton of sense though. Not only has the game changed, but Zimmer has pretty much always had bigger nose tackles. Pat Sims and Domata Peko were both over 6'2 320 lbs.

Stephen and Joseph over 310 and taller.

True, but it is one argument. Laughing

But, as further evidence, Zimmer did run out a 6'2", 285 lb La'Roi Glover at NT in 2005.

The NFL Players Association has advised agents for the Vikings’ 11 draftees not to sign contracts yet because of specific language in the proposed deals that the union believes violates the league’s collective bargaining agreement. The Vikings began organized team activities Tuesday without a single pick signed, but all 11 practiced under injury protection agreements.

I don't see a fundamental change in the way defensive linemen play from the 1990's on. Please say more about what you are seeing that I'm not seeing.

I wonder what kind of terms they are using in their offset language that would be prohibited?

Laquan pulls in a 30 yard pass from Bradford, over Rhodes and in front of Spielman.

None. They have enough camp bodies as it is.

Would probably have been interested if not for his little incident a few weeks ago.

Between Berger, Sirles, Isidora and Kerin we have more than enough competition at RG

I forgot about Kerin, but don't see him (or Shepherd) around much longer. I think Tagaloa, if he can stick on the practice squad, will ultimately also play guard. And then there's Beavers, who the Vikings now list as an OT, but I don't see that ever happening. It's just what you do ... if a guy is too slow to play tackle, he becomes a guard. Doesn't much matter how tall he is or how long his arms are.

Highlights from OTA 3. A ridiculous catch by Thielen, Diggs turning Newman around 3 times on a single route, and Rhodes gets his revenge on Treadwell.

It is awesome seeing Rhodes' ball skills develop.
