I think we need to fire Alexander. His units have underwhelmed in the postseason consistently and his personnel decisions leave A LOT to be desired. Still mad about the whole Nate Livings/Evan Mathis debacle...

I have felt this way for a long time. But for some reason people believe he is a great coach

Whats even more worrying is that he is the Assistant Head Coach. We're only a Marvin Lewis broken fingernail away from him calling all the shots.......

Might be a better game manager than position coach. Actually, I am sure he would be.

So I have always been a big proponent of a strong offensive line, and I see our deficiency there, but I can't stop being excited about the potential for this team.

Me too. Maybe we bring in Mangold or another Vet but it's possible Fisher and Ogbuehi step up and do alright. If that's the case the offence could feast if Zampese has learnt anything from his first year. The D did pretty well in the last half of the season too last year and it's possible we might actually have a pass rush.

Hobson had a piece about that and dismissed it. He said Alexander is high on Bodine and Mangold wouldn't get playing time.

Have we had any productive linemen who weren't a 1st or 2nd rd pick under Alexander? Has he ever taken a mid to late round guy and molded them into an above average starter? I can't think of any.

Clint Boling? Didn't have to search too far there.

But really, you are correct. There aren't many. Anthony Collins, Evan Mathis (i guess, though they didn't draft him, he improved a lot while playing for the Bengals), Bobbie Williams had a resurgence with the Bengals and Rich Braham. But, he's been around for a long time, so that's not really an impressive list.

I don't know if I'd call Clint Boling an above average starter. Collins either. Mathis' best years weren't as a Bengal and Bobbie Williams was already a finished product.

Braham is likely the only one I'd agree was a very good player, and given the shortage of options, I'm as much willing to attribute that to luck than to Alexander making someone better through coaching.

Yeah Boling is ok to me. But I wouldn't say he is great. Just kind of solid I guess.

Also random but has Rey maualuga been signed yet?

I think i'd definitely call Boling above average. Great isn't the same.

But whatever, doesn't really matter. We agree, there hasn't been a ton of good linemen coming from the later rounds.
