wasn't Porter the one who intercepted Favre late in the 2009 NFCCG, and then imitated Jared Allen's calf roping celebration...?

He definitely had the INT, not sure about the celebration.

I don't know if I want to re-live that moment... Speak to the hand

you must embrace the pain, to fully experience the eventual joy.

Still, to this day, the 2009 loss doesn't nearly hurt as much as the 1998 one. I'd rather go down swinging (on an INT) than taking a knee, as Denny did.

Bears’ Week 13 win over 49ers cost them three picks.

In Week 13, the Bears beat the 49ers in a game that seemed utterly meaningless: Chicago entered the game 2-9, San Francisco entered the game 1-10, and neither team had anything to play for.

But it turned out to be a very meaningful game: The 49ers finished the season 2-14 and had the second overall pick in the draft, while the Bears finished the season 3-13 and had the third overall pick. If the 49ers had beaten the Bears, those records and draft orders would be reversed. And the Bears’ trade up from No. 3 to No. 2 for quarterback Mitchell Trubisky never would have happened.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Bears General Manager Ryan Pace kept the plan to move up to select the North Carolina quarterback to himself until hours before the draft.

Is that because he didn't want to get fired before the draft, like he will now at the end of the season when it all blows up in his face?

The Bears announced the release of Eddie Royal on Thursday, bringing his stay with the team to an end after two years with the team. Royal was hurt for a healthy portion of those two seasons and wound up playing in just 18 games. He caught 70 passes for 607 yards and three touchdowns during his time in Chicago. Royal’s departure leaves the Bears with Cameron Meredith, Kevin White, Markus Wheaton and Kendall Wright as the prospective top wideouts for this season.

Victor Cruz is scheduled to meet with the Bears on Monday.

The Bears have been fortunate that Pro Bowl offensive lineman Kyle Long is versatile, and they’re thinking about tapping into that again. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears are considering moving Long to left guard this year and flipping free agent pickup Josh Sitton to right guard.

It was clear from Victor Cruz’s recent remarks about his departure from the Giants that he wasn’t feeling loved by his old team, but his new one made sure he got the message. During an appearance on ESPN Radio’s Waddle & Silvy show, the veteran wide receiver said he was greeted with open arms by the Bears.

Cruz: “I just wanted to hear that I can have an opportunity to play. To come and be a direct impact to a football team. And Chicago showed me a lot of love. Everyone was adamant about how they felt I could contribute to the football team and be a factor immediately coming right in. And not just as a player but as someone who’s been around football a long time and can come in and provide an insight to different teams and different nuances of the game. And I think Chicago presented the best opportunity for me.”

The wide receiver agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears on Thursday.

FF Bears fans' reactions to signing Cruz:

WindyCity wrote:
I do not hate the signing, but I almost hope he does not make the team. My hope is that one of the younger WRs with a bit of a future can step up and make needing a steady declining vet not as serious. But I understand wanting a guy with a resume.

He should be a fan favorite. Football fans love washed-up stars.

If this signing is because Kevin White is injured I'm going to puke.

I hope Cruz teaches these young guys a lot in camp...and is then cut... We are a team who should be building for 2018...Cruz doesn't help with that.
