With the Saints drafting Lattimore, it looks like we're going to get to see that Butler, Gilmore, Chung, and McCourty secondary.

This is the right option.

Reiss is reporting that Butler is "all-in" for 2017, and is attending voluntary team work-outs.

It's not like he's got any kind of leverage, but it's good news if he's going to be grown up about it.

Great news really. Hopefully it's reflected on the field, and hopefully it means no ongoing distraction throughout the year. Though I'm sure Belichik would just trade him if he were going to cause issues.

Assuming Butler plays for a contract or at least to his known level, is the duo of him and Gilmore one of the best in the league?

No idea, don't know much about Gilmore. But if that were the case, one would have to think the Pats will have a pretty good shot at one of the best secondaries in the league, given McCourty is a great FS, Chung a solid SS and Harmon a pretty good backup.

Not that any of it really matters on paper, but let's hope it shows on the field!

It should be. Pretty much should be expecting to see 2 #1 caliber Cbs and an up in coming boundary CB. I'm also a big fan of Rowe in general. And w/ our S trio our secondary can be pretty great and if Cyrus Jones can put it all together our secondary is set for any matchups

Zolak (for what he's worth) was hinting today that the Patriots have been talking extension with Butler. Would make sense, as Butler now has a better sense of his market after his visit with the Saints.

Either way, seems like his attitude (or reported attitude) has changed and hes ready to compete this season. Can't wait to see that secondary in action.

Not trying to throw you under the bus here but, this isn't really new news. I'd be surprised if the Patriots weren't at least trying to scope out what Butler is looking for in an extension and obviously Butler is trying to work his [inappropriate/removed] off to get a $$$ extension.

I don't think Butler ever had an attitude problem. A lot of smoke gets thrown during free agency and everyone gets miffed that someone else is getting paid more than them; media just blew the whole thing up

Yup. 50:50 odds of the 32 turning into anyone on the level of Butler and we weren't getting the 11 ever. So that was the gamble.

Extend Butler, have a beast secondary, see what you can make of our pass rushers. And who knows.
