I'm guessing he was drafted more for his return abilities than his receiver abilities.

You can definitely see that type of ability. While on offense, he makes excellent use of a limited amount of space. His ability to get to top speed, throttle down to make a move, and gear back up again is impressive.

Yeah no doubt, just felt like sharing haha. Waldman even says his skill after the catch is impressive so that bolds well for his return ability

I definitely agree with Waldman that his catching technique right now is a problem. As is the fact that he comes from a RPO-driven system that had him run limited routes. I question how he will be able to beat press, so he's likely a slot/flanker-only type.

We have a new receivers coach in the first time in a very long time, so we will have to see if he can get anything out of the kid offensively, but he looks like he has the traits of a very good kick returner.

Just wanted to drop a little tidbit on Rodney. He is the man, a truly humble and positive kid from a very good family with a pretty darn impressive work ethic. I worked with his father a few years back when he was still in high school, and his personality as a genuinely grateful and respectful guy always stuck with me and I've always heard the same about Rodney. When I heard about him transferring to USF a few years later I was thrilled, because I knew he was great kid and turned out to be a great player.

Even I was surprised he was drafted in the 5th round, but I really think you guys are lucky to have him.

Also worth mentioning that he was actually destined for UF after HS. Doctors found a hole in his heart and all of his major D-1 offers got pulled. He wound up at Toledo, and then transferred to USF. I don't doubt that he would've had more hype had he been at an SEC school for four years. He sure had the talent for it.

Paraphrasing here... but Rick made it a point in saying that one of the drafted players he hopes will handle the KR abilities.

My guess is Adams could have the inside track to make the 53 for his KR abilities, but won't see snaps at WR unless there is an injury. There is just not enough balls to be thrown.

Diggs, Thielen, Wright, Treadwell,
Rudolph, Morgan, Hodges

I agree, I think Adams is the opening favorite for KR duties. I think Coley has better WR ability but needs an attitude adjustment to reach that potential.

I like the fact that we got someone who can do kick returns. I hope that he can return and develop into more WR depth.

Adams excelled in the role of kick returner in his college career, tallying 1,140 yards on 46 returns, including a 97-yard kickoff return for a score.

I think Michael Floyd will be added. So, even less chance for Adams at WR.

The team will likely carry 6 WRs.

Diggs, Thielen, Treadwell, Wright, Floyd would only be 5, leaving room for one of the rooks to be the sixth guy.

Rodney Adams showcasing more route running ability already than he showed at South Florida. He's got some quick!
