Hello everyone! Here is the official thread for the 2017 Top Cat Challenge!
The Top Cat Challenge is a mock of all Panthers picks in the 2017 NFL Draft. Everyone is welcome to compete.
All entries are due by the start of the draft (Thursday, April 27, 8 PM EST). The thread will be locked at that time. Submissions can be posted in here any time before that, and edited as frequently as you please up until the lock time. You can also PM me your picks (please only PM with a final submission, not one that you plan to revise).
In the event of a tie, please provide an answer to the following question alongside your picks:
From which college football conference will the most Panther draft picks come from in the 2017 draft? (ACC/SEC/etc)
Scoring
For full credit, you must get the exact round, pick number, and player correct. You can earn up to the following amounts of points based on round
1st-10
2nd-15
3rd-20
4th-25
5th-30
6th-35
7th-40
For rounds where we have multiple picks, if you get the player in the right round, but with the wrong pick, 5 points will be taken off
Partial points:
Round and position correct, but wrong player = 7 points
For every round you are off, you lose one point (ex. if you say we go DE in the 1st and we don't take a DE until the 7th, you receive 1 point. if we take a DE in the 4th, you'd get 4 points)
Player correct but wrong round = 5 points (ex. if you say we take Samaje Perine in the 3rd, but we take him in the 2nd, you earn 5 points)
Please format your picks as follows
Round, Pick number: Player Name, Position, College
Ex: Round 1, Pick 8: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
Current Carolina Panther Picks
Round 1, Pick 8
Round 2, Pick 8
Round 2, Pick 32
Round 3, Pick 34
Round 4, Pick 8
Round 5, Pick 8
Round 6, Pick 8
Round 7, Pick 15
(don't forget the tiebreaker question!)

Round 1, Pick 8 - Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU 7 points
Round 2, Pick 8 - Tarell Basham, DE, Ohio 6 points
Round 2, Pick 32 - Teez Tabor, CB, Florida 4 points
Round 3, Pick 34 - Josh Jones, S, NC State
Round 4, Pick 8 - Julie'n Davenport, OT, Bucknell
Round 5, Pick 8 - Corn Elder, CB, Miami 30 points
Round 6, Pick 8 - Tanner Vallejo, LB, Boise St.

Looks like we're taking a lot of ACC players. Though I bet we wind up only having 6 picks with zero in the 6th or 7th.

The scores have been tallied, here are the results:
First place, with 49 points, is Zithers!
Zithers predicted our 5th round pick, Corn Elder. This pick alone was worth enough points to win the whole thing!
Second place, with 27 points, is BringinDaPain
Third place, with 20 points, is Lasus83
Coming in last, with -10,000 points, is james.mcmurry13
Thank you to all participants! For the next year Zithers gets to tell us he knows more about the draft "because of Corn"! |
