I don't know anything about him, but he has a really average athletic profile.

late 3rd early 4th round skills. Knock on him is work ethic, and interest in being the best football player he can be. Vikings coaches can get him interested! Good pick!

Been bummed out at our wr picks-
Couldn't figure out how the purple could take these guys instead of Golladay. Turns out, only one team gets to draft him. He went 96 to the Lions. *Hangs head in shame*

DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 5-6

SOURCES TELL US "He needs a lot of work but I think he has enough talent to play in the league. I just have doubts that he loves the game. He is notorious over there for kind of coasting on his talent rather than putting in the work he should be. If he's not committed to the NFL process, he will be gone early." -- Scout for NFC North team

NFL COMPARISON Chris Harper

BOTTOM LINE Might lack the release ability and play strength to line up outside. Best-suited as a vertical slot receiver who can stretch the field and uncover underneath thanks to athleticism and burst. Raw and might not have the football character necessary to make a dent in the league. However, he has the athletic traits that could make a viable slot option with big-play potential. Durability and ability to contribute on special teams are likely essential.

Kid has always been an under performer. I'll be surprised if he makes the team.

Absolutely love the kid talent wise. Would be shocked if he doesn't make the practice squad at least.

Matt Waldman ranked Coley 25th, in the 6th tier of receivers, with this to say about him (and more)

Quote:
...Athletic but not physically dominant, and skilled but
not extraordinary at any single area of his craft,
Coley is the ultimate example of a player whose
mental and emotional makeup will determine how
likely he excels at the professional level. He’s a safe
mid-to-late round investment for the NFL with a
chance of a greater return.

Also made the short list of "underrated receivers"

Coley has more potential ability and better current ability than Adams, the other WR we drafted.

That said, Adams probably wants it more; and that's why he was drafted 2 rounds above Coley. Coley is a hands catcher, has quick feet, and has the ability to be a really good slot receiver, but he's never really wanted it before.

If he commits to it, he'll make the squad and also make Jarius Wright expendable.
