This is silly. Someone took Reese's 'we investigate everything' rhetoric and ran with it to try to make headlines. OBJ saved Reese's job because he missed on a lot of players the 3 to 4 years prior to that. They will 100% pick up the option and eventually sign him to a massive long term deal. Not only is he a top 3 receiver, he sells tickets, merchandise and draws viewers because of his persona. And at the end of the day, the NFL is a business. _________________

exactly, he is the reason America tunes in on Sundays or Mondays to see what he will do next. Not to mention the money he makes for this team..he's a top 2 WR in this league behind only Julio Jones and you can even make a case for him to be the best. You don't let those guys go. If we paid JPP we will most certainly pay OBJ.

It's a lame bargaining ploy in which Odell has a royal flush in his hand long as he stays healthy. He knows he's the big ticket seller, and either you pay him or 29 other teams will.
Or you can trade him but you bring get Mike Evans or Hopkins back in that deal _________________ My personal NYG offseason wishlist: 2017 NYfG's off-season checklist:

What "off-the-field" issues does OBJ have? |

He parties with celeb women, travels with rap stars, and makes questionable dance videos with his homies............. what an outlaw. _________________ My personal NYG offseason wishlist: 2017 NYfG's off-season checklist:

Wasn't the kicking net thing technically "off" the field? |

I'm not sure if the CBA allows this but maybe they are looking to lock him up long-term this year as opposed to next. With the way contracts are being handed out these days, the value of the contract will be cheaper now than 18-24 months from now.
But seriously, we're fine. There's a 0% chance a player of OBJ's caliber does not have his 5th year option exercised. It's a no-brainer and there is plenty of time left to exercise it. _________________

Now at the very least we have him for this year and next..then we can tag him back to back seasons if need be.

OBJ is likely going to be the first non-QB to average 20 mill per year. With the way the salary cap keeps going up, and Eli coming off the books (plus the defensive contract following a year after; if they aren't cut [which the hope is they play out the contract but it's the NFL and that hardly happens]) it's likely they can work the numbers around that'll be the yearly average while the first year CAP hit is low (like JPP deal) while the final year/s of the large defense contracts play out. I expect OBJ to sign something like a 6 year 120-126 million deal (85 million guaranteed) either next offseason or the year after. He's the face of the offense/franchise post-Eli. He gonna get paid, and it's going to be the Giants. |

Barbinjuries OBJ is a lifetime Giant. Right now I honk it's all about structuring the long term deal and getting the timing right for both sides |
