So; with the draft a few weeks away; lets get on with our annual display of draft ineptitude...... can we just get one pick right this year guys ?

11 picks this year, usual rules apply, lets go !!!!

'Londonbengal' mock 2017

top 8 picks.......

#1 CLE Myles Garrett [DE Texas A&M]
#2 SF Mitch Trubisky [QB NC]
#3 CHI Pat Mahomes [QB Texas Tech]
#4 JAX Leonard Fournette [RB LSU]
#5 TEN Jamal Adams [S LSU]
#6 NYJ Deshaun Watson [QB Clemson]
#7 LAC Malik Hooker [S Ohio State]
#8 CAR Marshon Lattimore [CB Ohio State]

.....and......

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R1-009 Solomon THOMAS [DE Stanford]
[Replaces Margus Hunt]. I see 3 QB's going off the board before #9 as QB needy teams battle to grab a QB ahead of CLE @ #12 and ARZ @ #13. I even see a club like the Texans trading the farm to go get a Mahomes or a Watson. As a result, a stud DE falls to us @ #9....... defence is deep this year, so clubs will look draft offence early IMO. If he's there The Bengals grab him......... if Thomas is gone, we take the best DE available, or hopefully trade down; it is equally possible that 4 DE's go top 8 !!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
R2-041 Joe MIXON [RB Oklahoma]
[Replaces Rex Burkhead]. Some may argue that with JHill and Gio on board, RB is not a 'position of need'. IMO, our run game needs a shot in the arm, and with the inexperienced OL we're pinning our season on, we have to run it better, and Mixon gives us that boost. Good receiver too. We cant be any more unpopular nationally than we are now; so I'd take a chance on Mixon; he'd be like a 2nd R1 pick.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R3-073 Pat ELFLEIN [OC Ohio St]
[Replaces Bodine eventually]. One of my favourite players in this years draft. The sort of nasty interior soldier we need in our division. Reminds me a lot of Steinbach.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R4-116 Anthony WALKER [ILB Northwest’n]
[Replaces Rey Maualuga]. Fast, coast to coast tackling machine. Great addition to the LB corps
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R4-138 Dede WESTBROOK [WR Oklahoma]
[Replaces James Wright]. I use the comp pick we got for Marvin Jones on an even faster receiver, a guy that can get separation and can get deep.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R5-153 Julien DAVENPORT [OT Bucknell]
[Replaces Andrew Whitworth (if that's possible!)] Tons of talent, and has the raw tools to play NFL LT in time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R5-176 Zach BANNER [OG USC]
[Replaces Kevin Zeitler]
A big bull to provide depth on the interior OL. Huge monstrous man, with huge monstrous potential.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R6-193 Michael ROBERTS [TE Toledo]
[Replaces Matt Lengel]
Another big tight end to compete with Uzomah and Kroft for a roster spot
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R6-217 Stevie TUIKOLVATU[DT USC]
[Replaces Domata Peko] A mammoth anchor in the middle to challenge Billings, Sims and Thompson. Gets push up the middle, and blocks running lanes well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R7-227 Delano HILL [FS Michigan]
[Replaces Chykie Brown] A speedy sure tackling free safety to challenge Fejedelem for a roster spot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R7-251 Brandon WILSON [CB-FS Houston]
[Replaces James Wright] A quick swiss army knife type guy, who plays corner, safety, back, receiver and special teams; ideal guy for Simmons to play with.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of Easter...

1. Foster. Would love for Thomas or Allen to fall, and if they do, they are the pick. But I don't think they will, so Ruben Foster it is

2. Jordan Willis DE

2b (for McCarron) Joe Mixon, if the trade happens. if not, a RB will come later.

3. Tanoh Kpassagnon DE

4a. Josh Reynolds WR
4.b Malachi Dupre WR
5a John Toth C
5b Zane Gonzales K
6a Erik Magnuson OT
6b. Damien Mama OG
7a. Ishmael Zamorah WR

1. Reuben Foster LB Bama - my guess is it's going to come down to him and Barnett here and the DE class is much deeper than the LB class this year.

2. Jordan Willis DE Kansas St - while a good portion of these picks need to fall some for it to be believable Willis is my fav of the 2nd tier DE talent.

3. Chris Godwin WR PSU - again my fav of the 2nd tier WRs. Tough, strong, high foosball IQ and gets separation.

4.a Trey Hendrickson DE FL Atlantic - I really liked Chad Hanson here and grabbing a DE in round 3 but figured that he and the rest of the 2nd tier WRs would be gone and imo they should be a priority this year. Hendrickson has huge upside too.

4.b James Conner RB Pitt - My fav RB outside of the first round this year. Very physical and can break big runs, laughs at arm tackles. Shows up in big games and can be a leader in the locker room. To me has qualities of Marshawn Lynch and Arian Foster.

5.a Jordan Morgan OG Kurtztown - Needs some work to get used to speed and power of pro game coming from small school but has tools and tenacity to turn into starter in a year or two.

5.b Howard Wilson CB Houston - teammate of WJ3 that could actually benefit from the bengals cornerback redshirt program. Not sure if the program actually works at all but he is raw and talented and could be a huge pickup if he gets to his ceiling.

6.a Kyle Fuller C Baylor - Not gonna lie grading O line is not in my wheelhouse and Center is where I will gladly admit my wealth of ignorance. His tape didn't look terrible and looks like he enjoys the run game ALOT. Went with an OG earlier because this draft seems to have a quicker drop off of OG talent than C.

6.b Brad Seaton OT Brad Seaton - High up side late round tackle.

7.a Blake Jarwin TE Ok State - Went TE here mainly because such a talent deep class. Wanted a DT but figured would get a better prospect from available TE's. Jarwin has experience all over the field, just needs to bulk up and learn better form for blocking.

7.b - Bryan Cox jr DE UF - Initially had a qb here but after Living in Gator country during Driscol's reign pretty sure an UDFA will beat him out for practice squad/third string. Cox is another big body with upside to help replenish the edge. Between Dunlap, Hill, the new guy we took a flier on and whatever is left of MJ93 figured adding another DE is just as good as anywhere else on the team. We at least have bodies at WR that deserve shots and while I wouldn't mind another o lineman in the mix it's a toss up to me.

BONUS ROUND

UDFA guys based solely on how awesome their names sound:
Max Rich
Damian Mama
Chunky Clements
Bug Howard
Noble Nwachukwu
Speedy Noil
Trey Griffey
Kermit Whitfield
YoungHoe Koo
Dalton Schomp
Wyatt Houston
Maximo Espitia
Phazahn Odom
Voghens Larrieux
Christophe Mulumba Tshimanga
Lynx Hawthorne
Mondo Williams
Gage Steele
Money Hunter

The Key n Peele sketch practically writes itself.

Final Hokie mock - I wanted to give more detailed write-ups but work has been killing me. Just haven't had the time. I will do a full mock until our 2nd round pick though (there will be a few trades but I'm not going to project any):

1. Browns - Myles Garrett
2. 49ers - Solomon Thomas
3. Bears - Marshon Lattimore
4. Jaguars - Leonard Fournette
5. Titans - Mike Williams
6. Jets - Jamal Adams
7. Chargers - Malik Hooker
8. Panthers - Christian McCaffrey
9. Bengals - John Ross (WR) If Thomas isn't available at 9, I think the Bengals will try to trade down and get Barnett or Reddick. If not, I think they go with Howard (Eifert insurance) or speed in Ross. Call it a reach, but Ross has DeSean Jackson potential and would help really open up the offense (safeties would have to play deeper).
10. Bills - O.J. Howard
11. Saints - Jonathan Allen
12. Browns - DeShaun Watson
13. Cardinals - Patrick Mahomes
14. Eagles - Derek Barnett
15. Colts - Charles Harris
16. Ravens - Corey Davis
17. Redskins - Haason Reddick
18. Titans - Marlon Humphrey
19. Bucs - Dalvin Cook
20. Broncos - Ryan Ramczyk
21. Lions - Taco Charlton
22. Dolphins - Forrest Lamp
23. Giants - David Njoku
24. Raiders - Gareon Conley
25. Texans - Garrett Bolles
26. Seahawks - Tre'Davious White
27. Chiefs - Takkarist McKinley
28. Cowboys - Quincy Wilson
29. Packers - T.J. Watt
30. Steelers - Evan Engram
31. Falcons - Reuben Foster
32. Saints - Adoree Jackson
33. Browns - Cam Robinson
34. 49ers - DaShone Kizer
35. Jaguars - Dan Feeney
36. Bears - Malik McDowell
37. Rams - JuJu Smith-Schuster
38. Chargers - Curtis Samuel
39. Jets - Chidobe Awuzie
40. Panthers - Budda Baker
41. Bengals - Carl Lawson (DE) Don't see the Bengals getting past round 2 without a pass rusher. Lawson is arguably the best left on the board at this point.

3. Kareem Hunt (RB) - Don't see the Bengals getting past round 4 without taking a RB. Hunt would be a good fit but I'd like him more in round 4. I'm fine waiting on a RB but I don't think the Bengals want to wait long.

4A. Will Holden (OT) - Bengals will likely add an OL in the first 4-5 rounds. Holden projects as a RT.

4B. Avery Moss (DE) - Bengals will likely double down on DE in this draft. Talented but trouble DE prospect.

5A. Zane Gonzalez (K) - I think the Bengals finally draft a kicker. They have plenty of picks and can afford to use one on a kicker here.

5B. Delano Hill (SS) - Very deep safety class, Hill would have a chance to stick as a rookie on special teams and as the 4th safety.

6A. Jon Toth (C) - Bengals will likely take an interior OL prospect at some point as well. PS candidate, adds depth.

6B. Jalen Myrick (CB) - It's the Bengals, they're drafting a corner at some point. We have a lot of depth here though so he'll have an uphill battle for a roster spot.

7A. James Onwualu (OLB) - Good coverage LB but undersized. He'll have a chance to stick on a roster due to special teams ability.

7B. Hayden Plinke (TE) - Good blocker and has good straight-line speed.

R1-009 John Ross WR (Washington)
R2-041 Joe Mixon RB (Oklahoma)
R3-073 Tanoh Kpassagnon DL (Villanova)
R4-116 Zane Gonzalez K (Arizona St)
R4-138 Gareon Conley CB (Ohio State) (If he does fall I could see us taking him)
R5-153 Julie'n Davenport OT, (Bucknell)
R5-176 Josh Reynolds WR (Texas A&M)
R6-193 Elijah Lee LB (Kansas St)
R6-217 Aaron Jones RB (Texas El-Paso)
R7-227 Deshawn Bond (Cincinnati)
R7-251 Gunner Kiel QB (Cincinnati)

Poorly researched but I think I somehow won last year getting like 1 player right in the wrong round so why not a repeat?

Just realized I forgot to include Mitch Trubisky.

Oh well, too lazy to re-do it now.
