http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/04/11/jaguars-release-dan-skuta/

Just two years into a 5-year, $20.5 million deal, the Jaguars have given up on Dan Skuta. He only accumulated 1.5 sacks in that time, starting just ten games. At least he was able to cash in after that 5-sack year he had in San Francisco...

Update:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/05/08/bears-sign-dan-skuta/

Dan Skuta signed with Chicago, reuniting him with Vic Fangio.

So it looks to me like strong side linebacker and nose tackle are the top needs for the Jaguars.

Completely forgot about that dude. How was he last year? Or did he not play much because of his knee?

From what I understand, the Jaguars intend to split Jack between MLB and WLB until either Posluszny or Smith leaves and then put him at whichever spot they need, but he's not really suited to play strong side.

Knee is perfectly fine. Had nothing to do with that. Just Gus Bradley being Gus Bradley.

Thought he was on the weak side?

Well, we all loved The Scoot, and thank him for his many years (both of them) of heroic play for the Jaguars.

The Scoot went from being a decent rotational linebacker to a millionaire flop after his one good season! Way to market yourself, Scoot!

The respected poster Jaginoff produced an insightful and carefully-worded analysis of The Scoot's shortcomings here:

Slight problem, there. I read on his blog, 'Sup, Biznatch?, that his parents kicked him out of their basement when they discovered the meth lab. Poor guy's living in his car.

He claims to be a "regular poster" here, but under a different screen name.
Trying to figure out which one. Avid Jags fan. The fact that he's an overweight pasty-faced fan-boy with a sideways cap doesn't narrow it down.

Back on Topic: I assume that the Jags gave The Scoot the boot is in part to clear wasted cap space, but perhaps even more to clear the decks for Myles Jack. I gather he wasn't anywhere near as good as had been expected in his rookie year, but that is attributed to misuse, rather than any fault of the player himself. Perhaps with better coaching, playing in the right position, and plenty of time on the field, Jack will develop into the star linebacker he was predicted to be.[/b]

First I've heard of the guy, be interesting to see if another team takes a chance on him.
