I guess I'm confused, how do you make a guy post bail to leave jail without charging him with anything?

I know, it's just further proof that NFL players are above the law.

But in any case, the poor get poorer.

Except it's not?

You can be arrested and never have charges formally brought against you, especially in DV cases.
So why would he have to post bail? I understand an arrest that doesn't lead to charges, but I'm not sure I understand someone having to post bail under those circumstances.

And just like that, Marshon Lattimore at #2 overall becomes a possibility.

Interesting, he's innocent until proven guilty of course so we'll see what happens. Lattimore to the 49ers seems like it will happen now as well.

In the court of law maybe, but not in the Court of the NFL.

Maybe it's similar to a Drunk in Public charge? You get picked up, they don't necessarily charge you, but throw you in the brig to sober up. If you don't want to sober up in jail, you can post bail, but haven't been charged with anything formally.

I want Jamal Adams though. Especially with Eric Reid's concussion history.

Definitely not a lock on Lattimore by any means. There are about 7 different ways we can go at #2 that all make sense. This just adds one more hole that needs to be filled. Jimmie Ward was going to move to safety, but with this, it is possible that he'll stick at corner, which would make one of the safeties more likely.

Don't try to understand the justice system it just gets more confusing.

So who is gonna sign a top 20 CB with domestic violence issues? Which team is stupid enough to do it I wonder.
I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason, but at face value it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Its the same kind of question that I've pondered: how can a person be arrested, and his only charge is resisting arrest?

I've had that happen to me before. It was a crooked cop who was in jail by the time I had to go to trial for extortion. So when that happens I naturally assume the worst about the cop.

So a police officer has the authority to make an arrest or "detain" you based on probable cause. The charge comes from the prosecuting office who (depending on local law) may have to seek an indictment from a grand jury, which is basically just a rubber stamp, but still). Probable cause is not a sufficient standard to bring an indictment, which follows a preponderance of the evidence standard. TLDR; Police officers can arrest with little to no evidence, charges can't be filed unless there is sufficient evidence to seek conviction (beyond reasonable doubt standard).

Answer to the question about only charge being resisting arrest. You can look at the same thing. Was there enough evidence to seek a conviction on a formal charge for the initial violation.
