is it basically assumed Oklahoma SEC and Texas Big10?

Way too early to tell, but if Oklahoma continues to tie their program to Oklahoma State I think it's far more likely that both end up in the Pac-12. I'd assume Texas would go Independent unless the Pac-12 is willing to allow the LHN or if the'll fold the LHN into the Pac-12. Both seem unlikely at this point, but in another six or seven years the equation might be different. Assuming the Pac-12 conference and Texas are unable to come up with a compromise, it'd be curious to see if the Pac-12 would go to 16 teams, and if they did who they'd take. I don't think there is any real appeal to bring Tech without the bigger fish (Texas) tied to them, so I'd imagine that Baylor and TCU would probably be the other two to join. Kansas could be a darkhorse, but their poor football program probably wouldn't override their great basketball program.

Here it is (11/6, originally posted 10/30):

Oklahoma has 2 losses already.

One of them to Houston that actually looks bad right now. When it happened, people said that it was a loss that they could overcome. Houston's struggles hurt but what hurts Oklahoma the most is their own play.

Oklahoma's resume is garbage compared to the other contenders.

Lost to Houston (7-2 AAC team with losses to Navy and SMU)
Lost to Ohio State (tough opponent but OSU doesn't look quite as good as other years)
Won at TCU (beat a 4-4 team by 6 points)
Won vs. Texas (beat a 4-4 team by 5 points)
Won vs. Texas Tech (beat a 4-4 team by 7 points)

Style points matter. Especially if you have one loss or more. People would be willing to overlook a team with a loss or two but also blew everyone else out. Oklahoma is struggling to put away average to below average teams. That's not something that the committee will be remotely impressed with. What part of beating Texas 45-40 is impressive? What part of that Texas Tech game was impressive? Sure their offense went off but Texas Tech's defense might be in consideration for the worst of all time. And their defense also let up a ridiculous amount.

Oklahoma's defense is garbage. They gave up 45 to an OSU offense that looks anemic, 52 to TCU, 40 to Texas (Laughing), and 57 to Texas Tech.

Other than that, the comfortable wins over UL Monroe, Kansas State, and Kansas aren't impressing anyone.

Bottom line, if you're a two loss team, you better have looked really damn impressive in your other games. And that just isn't the case with Oklahoma.
