Fun fact BTW, we're basically out of cap space, so unless a lot of re-structurings happen or we trade Sheldon, we're likely done with any big moves in FA. Oh and Gilchrist is still a Jet.

I think this cements the idea we are going to have an open competition at QB. I can also see the Jets drafting a QB possibly in the later rounds. I like Nathan Peterman. Not sure when he will go but in the 5th rd or so would be good.

I still think we are not done with the QB position. Just a hunch.

Would not be smart. Taking a QB this year, at least early would be a monumental mistake. Horrible QB class.

I think we're going to draft and replace Petty.

Possibly. I can see us taking someone on day 3 to essentially compete with Petty for a spot

We had 24 million before the Ijalana, Catanzaro, Pennel, Claiborne, and now McCown signings. We still need some money for our draft class. Prob around 19-20 mil right there.

I said this before when he was just a guy we might sign, but this seems like we are trying to buy a month or 2 more for Hack to sit in season before starting him. The per game bonus' convince me of that even more. Hack is supposedly focusing on mechanics all off season, and giving him an extra 4-6 weeks (if McCown can stay healthy that long) to absorb the playbook and see it in action with a vet at the helm of it (a crappy vet but whatever).

We need to see Hack this year at least some, and he NEEDS to get 2nd string reps, like a ton of them. I'd sacrifice some of McCowns starter reps each week to get Hack more work.... it's not like McCown is gonna win many games even with the reps.

Meh. 1 year deal that puts a "vet" on the roster. Know Macc doesn't have to worry how he's going to fill in the 3rd QB slot come draft time.

We should draft Chad Kelly in the 7th and watch him smoke these fools in camp and then smoke with them outside of camp.

Baby Manziel? No thank you.

Ya I think drafting a qb isn't out of the question bc Petty is replaceable. I don't think we do that though until the later Rounds though.

The big question is how much playing time is Mc Cown going to take away from Petty & Hack? I can hear Bowles now ( HE GIVES US THE BEST CHANCE TO WIN ). The Giants signed Geno Smith for only 2 million, we signed this bum Mc Cown for 6 million. We are going to have a horrible season in 2017. so why didn't we just let Geno, Hack, & Petty compete for the starting job this year. And next year go after Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold, or any other top QB in the 2018 draft. Eli Manning is 36 years old, and the Giants brought in Geno to back up Manning. With the last CBA there is much less practice time, and that can only hurt the Jets, young QB's. Some people say Mc Cown is great in the locker room, how many games have we ever won in the locker room?
