What is everyone going to do when Dallas doesn't draft a DE...or waits until late rounds to do so?

A healthy Charles Tapper returns and equates to the rookie pick everyone is clamoring for. Dallas DL as is right now, put up something like 16-17 sacks over last 6 games. Irving and Mayowa are both young. Collins put up 5 his rookie year....

Are you prepared to be disappointed?

I hear you. DE's will get drafted higher due to the nature of the position and the demand. I can see us drafting an OT if one falls in round 1. Possibly a WR. DB may get addressed in RD 1 and I think we may see multiple DB's drafted.

I'm not one of those fans who wants an All Pro at every position. But man we are a little heavier on hope vs. production at the DL position especially DE. Nothing is ever a sure thing. Maybe Tapper produces. Maybe Lawrence is healthy and productive. Ditto Crawford. Maybe Irving and Mayowa continue to develop. For me the only sure thing is Collins. I think he is going to be very good. Can't say that about anyone else. I know that having the ability to consistently pressure the passer is a key ingredient to winning. We haven't been able to do that.

I'm sure you probably don't want to hear this, but we do have Randy Gregory waiting in the wings. This has probably been the longest he's gone without any issues...

November reinstatement means that he can come back and be a specialist.

He's not coming back in November. 1 year suspension that started in January. I think?
...and applying for readmission doesn't mean that the league welcomes you back with open arms on the day you apply.

With the "Mara" influence on Godell, there's no way Gregory comes back in time for the playoffs unless we are already out of the race.

He can apply for reinstatement 60 days prior to the suspension ending, which means he can apply early November. If he is reinstated I think he can practice with the team, which would be great for us if he make it to the playoffs.

So do you really think they'll reinstate him before he serves the full suspension? I certainly don' think he'll be reinstated until he has served the full suspension. The league has no real interest in giving guys returning from suspension any leniency. It cost them nothing to force him to sit the full year, but letting him come back makes it look like the league is becoming soft on drug use. Guess which option they'll chose.

I want Gregory back with the team as soon as possible because I think that will help his sobriety far more than being away from the team and football. I just think that protecting the shield comes before everything.

Cowboys have lost in free agency:
CB Brandon Carr
S JJ Wilcox
S Barry Church
DT Terrell McClain
DT Jack Crawford
CB Morris Claiborne

From other teams, we have signed

CB Nolan Carroll
DT Stephen Paea
DE Demontre Moore

What does this mean for comp picks next year?

You forgot Leary

Right now, looking like a 4th, two 5ths, and a 6th

S JJ Wilcox (positive - he's garbage)
S Barry Church (negative - he's no star, but he was very solid; significant hit Imo)
DT Terrell McClain (negative, but I really really like Collins and hopefully we move TC back inside)
DT Jack Crawford (positive - he's super meh)
CB Morris Claiborne (positive - sorry he was a stud when he played, but he's as injury prone as anyone)

From other teams, we have signed

CB Nolan Carroll
DT Stephen Paea
DE Demontre Moore

I bolded next to them the significance)

I am TELLING you, someone in the league has it in for this kid. They are following him around, setting him up, trying to catch him in the act of something, whatever, but whoever it is DOES NOT want to see him running the football for us next year.

NO ONE can be this absolutely stupid to keep on putting himself in harms way and expect nothing to come of it.

If he is not suspened for some period of time next season I will be ASTONISHED!!!!

Don't get too caught up on this one...This is just what we do in the CG. Could have just been a random safety check on a pleasure craft. Or they could've seen some good looking women on board and wanted to ensure everything was completely safe onboard. *wink* *wink* Wink

Either way, I wouldn't consider this anything more than normal ops.
