the tag line of 2017 Free Agency

What did I see somebody post the other day the cap has gone up 39% in 5 years? This contract looks about in line with that. 2012 numbers he'd easily be a 5 year $24 million contract. Just going to take people a while to realize that contracts are going up.

I hope going to LA won't ruin Robert Woods chances of getting one more big contract. that offense is so terrible.

I like him a lot, and think he'd make an awesome slot WR. being the top target though probably isn't the best for him or the Rams.

but regardless, he should be a good option for The Goofy Offense.

This is why people shouldn't freak over the initial reported value:
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/los-angeles-rams/robert-woods-12322/

It's always inflated because it's the max value. Woods is getting paid $6.8 million per year without the incentives factored in. The Rams can get out of it after the first year with only $3 million in dead money. It's an incredibly team-friendly deal. He's being paid average #2 WR money with very little in guarantees.

Meh, to me it's an overpayment. Woods is more of a #3 guy than a #2 to me.

Yea, okay. 95% of free agent contracts are an "overpayment" according to this board. We gave a soon to be 25 year old WR low guarantees and an APY that he can easily outperform.

I'm very happy with the contract.

You're not out of the woods yet with that contract.

I don't see what Taylor Swift has to do with anything.

I'd rather he remain in our neck of the woods at that price.

Yea. I figure that if he stays relatively healthy, he'll live up to the contract. It's not a high bar to reach. If he outperforms it, even better considering his youth and the length.

They still don't have a legit #1 receiver, though.

#1 WRs are overrated. The Rams needed to address the OL issues. It was a bigger problem than WR. We'll be able to grab a couple offensive weapons in the draft, and we can hope that Cooper, Thomas, Austin, Higbee, etc. take a step forward with a real offensive coaching staff. If not, we always have next year to find a WR.

Maybe a #1 WR is overrated, but its easier to find something close than it is to get an OL to play at a high level, especially after not being close the year before. Whitworth will help a lot, but I still think STL should try to acquire more receiver talent ASAP.
