I totally agree we don't NEED Forte but we have to pay him anyway so why lose a good guy? I'd rather him ride the bench as a back up and pay him then let him leave and have to pay him.

Who cares? We don't need the money let a young more talented player take the roster spot. Hes not good.

As of right now bc we've been quiet in the FA market and even the trade market we don't need cap space so getting rid of Forte isn't a big deal. It has however kinda crappy to keep a 31yr old established RB on a rebuild team. It'd be respectable to trade him if we can, I just don't know if we will have any suitors.

The biggest reason why I would like us to move on from Forte is bc I believe Macc looks at the RB position and thinks its ok, when I don't see it that way. I see an above average line with no QB, so running the ball should be the formula to win. To help that a great RB would help big time. Fournette and Cook offer that. But I think bc Forte is on the roster it doesn't jump out as a need, when in fact IMO it is a big need.

So I'm ok with keeping Forte as long as it doesn't make us just look to FA or an UDFA as to solve RB for us. If we draft a RB in the 1st 3 Rounds I'll be happy.

Macc hasn't shown that he is willing to just throw away money without having a positive effect on the cap. I don't care if we release him,I just think he's a better 3rd string back than we'd find out on the open market.

Correct. Having Forte on the team is positive. He would be a quality back up. Provide leadership in the locker room. Mentor a young RB that hopefully we draft. Really no downside.

If we can better our roster or free up a cap space by moving him then fine. But remember, AP is sitting as a FA this dramatically reduces any trade of Forte and it make no sense to put more dead money on the cap.

We are unfortunately stuck with him. I mean if we end up drafting a Leonard Fournette they might just eat the loss anyways, or barely give him carries.

I more so just dont want to see him getting touches. Bilal out produced him with significantly less touches. I would also like to see a rookie getting some time as well since this is such a deep draft and we didn't need a young one to develop.

If we draft a RB, my guess is we wait until training camp and try to trade him to a team that is dealing with an injury or suspension and need a proven RB. By that time AP and Charles should be off the market. It will be interesting to see what type of payday they get.

Right now Matt Forte is the least of our problems. Wait till the QB situation heats up, No matter who Mac brings in, this board will light up like a Christmas tee.

I think Jamaal Charles affects Forte's trade value more than Peterson. Peterson is a true bell-cow, No. 1 rusher type. Forte's skill set is more of a decent runner, solid pass-catching option. He does not have Charles' big-play ability anymore, but he is still a reliable pass catcher.

If it is true that we've been looking at guys like Cadet (before he re-signed with NO) and Cunningham, I gotta believe Maccagnan is planning on moving either Forte or Powell. And that he plans on drafting a new lead back, whether in Round 1 (Fournette) or later (Cook? Mixon?).

Otherwise, it doesn't really make sense to bring in 3rd-down specialists when you already have two capable ones.
